Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to talk about this whole Marty Jannetty foot injury thing for a while now. It all started when I was browsing Facebook one day and I saw this post from Marty. It was a picture of his foot after surgery, and he was saying how his doctor is the best. That got me curious, so I started digging around to find out what exactly happened.
From what I gathered, this ankle injury has been bugging Marty for a long, long time. It seems he got it way back when he was wrestling with WWE. I even heard that he was worried about going broke if he actually got the surgery. Apparently, Joey Janela and Chris Jericho tried to help him out with it, which was really cool of them.
I kept reading, and found this detail that Marty actually asked to leave the company after some show, because he wasn’t happy with how things were going and management wouldn’t split up his team. And the last match he did, they lost to some guys in a match that was on RAW. It was around the end of 1996, I think.
Then I dug up this really wild story about a match with Austin. During the match, Austin took Marty’s finishing move, the “Rocker Dropper”. But something went wrong, and Austin’s head hit the mat. Turns out, he broke his neck and was paralyzed right then and there. They were taping it for TV, but it never aired. Can you believe that? And then Austin sued the WWF and Marty. Crazy stuff. This whole thing made me feel a bit down, to be honest.
So, I went back to Marty’s recent Facebook post and started reading the comments. Seems like the surgery he finally got has been giving him some trouble. I guess even with a good doctor, complications can still happen. Poor guy.
- I saw Marty’s Facebook post about his foot surgery.
- I started researching about his injury.
- I found out it happened during his time in WWE.
- I read about his last match and his release request.
- I learned about the incident in the match with Austin.
- I went back to Marty’s post and saw that he’s having complications.
It’s just a bummer to see someone go through all that. I really hope Marty’s foot heals up properly soon. It just goes to show, even in the world of wrestling, things can get pretty rough. It’s a reminder to appreciate good health when you have it, I guess. I just felt like I had to share this whole story. It’s been on my mind a lot lately.
