Man, let me tell you about this whole Sean Strickland betting odds thing. I’ve been following this guy for a while now, ever since he started making waves in the UFC middleweight division. So, the other day, I got it in my head to actually put some money down on him. First I had to find where I can bet.
I did a little digging, you know, just poking around on the internet. Turns out Strickland’s already a big name. He even won that middleweight championship! Crazy, right? Anyway, I found some stuff about him and this other fighter, Du Plessis. Seems they fought once before and it was pretty even, they called it a “pick ’em” fight.
- First things first, I had to understand what these odds actually mean. I saw these plus and minus signs next to the numbers. Come to find out, the minus sign usually means that fighter’s the favorite. But sometimes, if it’s a really close fight, both fighters can have a minus. It’s like saying it’s too close to call.
So, for this upcoming fight, it looks like Du Plessis is the favorite, with odds at -145, and Strickland’s the underdog at +125. I mean he is No.1 in the UFC middleweight ranking, so this is not surprising.
I also found out that Strickland’s been in the game since 2008. Used to be a champ in King of the Cage. Makes sense, the guy’s a beast.
Then it came down to actually placing the bet
I’m not gonna lie, I was a little nervous. I’ve never really done this before. I mean, I watch the fights, I talk about the fights, but actually putting money on the line? That’s a whole different ball game.
There are also some odds for this other fight, Israel Adesanya vs. Sean Strickland, whatever, I just found some site that seemed legit, made an account, and put in a little money.
I decided to bet on Strickland. I don’t know why, call it a gut feeling. Maybe it’s because he’s the underdog. Maybe it’s because I like his fighting style. Or maybe it’s just because I want to see him win. Whatever, I just placed the bet and the rest is in the God’s hands.
Now I’m just waiting. Waiting for the fight. Waiting to see if I made the right call. It’s kind of exciting, kind of nerve-wracking. We’ll see what happens, I guess. Hopefully I don’t regret this!
