Man, let me tell you about my latest adventure. I got it into my head to try out those John Daly cigars. Yeah, the golfer, John Daly. Apparently, he’s got his own line now with San Giuseppe Cigars. I figured, why not? I mean, the guy’s a legend on the course, known for his massive drives and, let’s be honest, a bit of a wild style. Figured his cigars might have some of that same character.
First thing I did was hit up the internet to see what the deal was with these things. Found out there’s a whole “John Daly Collection” – who knew? I read up a bit, learned that these San Giuseppe folks are all about quality and detail, which sounded promising. And partnering with athletes like Daly? Definitely got my attention.
So, I decided to jump in. But here’s the thing about me and cigars – I like them, but I ain’t no expert. I remembered reading somewhere that newbies like me shouldn’t go crazy spending a ton of money right off the bat. Good advice, I thought. So, I set myself a little budget.
Next, I found a local shop that carried them. I walked in, and there they were. Now, I know a good cigar should feel firm, with a little give, right? I picked one up, gave it a gentle squeeze. Felt pretty solid, no weird soft spots or anything. Looked like they were put together well.
Preparation before smoking
- Cut: I used my cutter to slice off the cap.
- Light: Got my lighter, toasted the foot of the cigar, and took a few puffs to get it going.
First puff, not bad. I’m no good at describing all those fancy flavors that some people talk about. But I can tell you it was smooth, didn’t hit me in the back of the throat or anything. I sat back, took my time with it, just enjoyed the moment.
I gotta say, it was a pretty good smoke. I was half expecting it to be some gimmicky thing, but honestly, it was a solid cigar. Makes sense, I guess. Daly’s known for his powerful game, and this cigar had a good, strong flavor without being overpowering. His lack of self-discipline in golf is not reflected in this cigar.
It reminded me a bit of Daly himself, actually. A little rough around the edges maybe, but definitely got its own thing going on. And just like how he’s a good golfer known for his unique style, this cigar was good in its own, unique way.
Would I try another one? Yeah, I think I would. I mean, the guy’s won two major championships – the PGA in ’91 and The Open in ’95. If he puts his name on a cigar, it’s gotta be at least worth a try, right? And it turned out to be more than just worth a try. It was a genuinely enjoyable experience. So, there you have it – my John Daly cigar adventure. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all.
