So, today I wanna talk about how I messed around with “split squad” stuff in baseball. It all started when I was reading some stuff online about spring training, and I saw this “split squad” thing. Basically, it’s when a team plays two games at the same time with different groups of players.
First, I tried to really get what this split squad thing was about. Some websites said it’s used during spring training so teams can see more players in action. I thought, “That sounds cool, I wanna try that with my local team!”
Next, I got my buddies together, the ones I always play baseball with. We aren’t pros or anything, just a bunch of guys who love the game. We decided to split ourselves into two squads. It was kinda tricky because we had to make sure both teams were kinda balanced, you know, not one team with all the good players.
We found another local team who was up for playing us. I contacted them and we set up two games at two different fields on the same day. It was a bit of a hassle to organize, getting all the umpires and fields ready, but we managed it.
Game day came, and it was kinda wild! I played in one game, and then I drove over to the other field to watch a bit of the second game. It felt like I was a coach or something, trying to keep up with both games.
- It’s a lot of work to organize, especially if you’re not a real team with a manager and stuff.
- It’s cool to see different players get more playing time. Some of my friends who usually sit on the bench got to play a whole game.
- It’s kinda confusing to keep track of two games at once. I had to keep checking my phone for scores from the other game.
Here’s what I learned from doing this whole split squad thing:
In the end, it was a fun experience. We might try it again next year, but maybe we’ll just stick to one game at a time. It’s less crazy that way!
