Hey everyone, I recently got my hands on the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 helmet, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the experience. I’ve always been a bit of a stickler for safety, especially when it comes to my head, so I was pretty excited to try this one out.
Unboxing and First Impressions
First off, the unboxing. The helmet arrived in a pretty standard box, nothing too fancy. Took it out, and my initial thought was, “Wow, this thing is light.” Seriously, it felt way lighter than my old helmet. I gave it a good look over, and the build quality seemed solid. It’s got this classic look that I’m a fan of, but you can tell there’s some new tech packed in there.
Putting It to the Test
Now, the real test was wearing it out on the field. Slipped it on, and it was comfortable right off the bat. It’s got this TPU cushioning system that’s supposed to be a big deal. I’m no scientist, but I can tell you it felt snug and secure without being too tight. Adjusting the fit was a breeze. You just pump it up to get it right where you want it, which is pretty cool. No messing around with swapping out pads or anything like that. It seems that they changed the helmet’s design to be more suitable for some NFL players.
The Feel on the Field
I wore this helmet for a few practices and a couple of games. Running around, making hits, the whole nine yards. I’ve got to say, the protection feels top-notch. I took a few good knocks, and my head felt fine afterward. I heard that they had some trouble in the past, but it seems they recovered from it. It’s like they took the classic design everyone loves and just made it better and safer. It made me understand why they increased sales in the past.
Comfort and Breathability
- The helmet is surprisingly breathable. Even when I was working up a sweat, it didn’t feel like I had a sauna on my head.
- The lightness of the helmet is a huge plus. It’s way easier on the neck, especially during long practices or games.
- The cushioning system is something else. It really does mold to your head, giving you a personalized fit.
Durability and Maintenance
As for durability, it’s still a bit early to tell for sure, but so far, so good. It’s held up well to the usual wear and tear. Cleaning it is pretty straightforward, too. Just a quick wipe down, and it’s good to go. I know that they went into bankruptcy, and a company acquired them. I hope they will continue to make these helmets for a long time.
Final Thoughts
Wrapping this up, I’m pretty impressed with the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11. It’s a solid helmet that offers great protection without sacrificing comfort. It’s light, it’s breathable, and it feels really secure on your head. If you’re in the market for a new helmet, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try. It’s a bit of an investment, but for the safety and comfort it provides, I’d say it’s worth it. I heard they will also be introducing Guardian Caps in the next season.
That’s it for my review, folks. Stay safe out there, and keep your head in the game!
