Okay, so I was messing around the other day, thinking about all the quarterbacks Justin Jefferson has played with in the NFL, you know, since he got drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.
I started by listing out all the seasons he’s played. Then I was like, “Alright, who was throwing him the ball each year?” That part took me a minute cause I had to look up the Vikings’ rosters for each season.
Digging Through the Rosters
First up, I had to go through the 2020 NFL season. That was Jefferson’s rookie year. If I recall right, Kirk Cousins was the main guy slinging the rock that year. But I also remember there was a backup…Sean Mannion, I think?
Then I moved on to 2021. Same deal, mostly Cousins, but I had to double-check if any other QBs got some playing time. It turns out that Kellen Mond also played that season.
For 2022, it was still the Kirk Cousins show. But I wanted to be thorough, so I went through the game logs to see if anyone else got any snaps. Turns out, Nick Mullens stepped in a few times.
And then last year, 2023, things got a bit wild. Cousins got hurt, so we saw a bunch of different guys under center. I had to really dig to remember all of them. Joshua Dobbs, and then Jaren Hall got a shot.
Putting It All Together
After I gathered all the names, I made a little list. It looked something like this:
- 2020: Kirk Cousins, Sean Mannion
- 2021: Kirk Cousins, Kellen Mond
- 2022: Kirk Cousins, Nick Mullens
- 2023: Kirk Cousins, Nick Mullens, Joshua Dobbs, Jaren Hall
So there you have it. Over his first four seasons in the league, Justin Jefferson has caught passes from Kirk Cousins, Sean Mannion, Kellen Mond, Nick Mullens, Joshua Dobbs, and Jaren Hall. Pretty interesting to see how many different quarterbacks he’s played with, right?
I also saw some stuff online where Jefferson was talking about his top five QBs in the league. He had Patrick Mahomes at number one, which makes sense. But he didn’t pick Cousins, which got people talking. But hey, everyone’s got their own opinions, right?
Anyway, it was a fun little exercise. Reminded me how much things can change from year to year in the NFL. And it makes you appreciate a guy like Jefferson who can put up big numbers no matter who’s throwing him the ball.
