Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a piece of UFC history for a while now. You know, something that really captures those epic moments in the octagon. And let me tell you, the UFC 189: Mendes vs. McGregor event was one for the books. I mean, that fight card was stacked! So, naturally, I started my hunt for the official event poster.
First things first, I hit up the usual spots online. I started browsing through some auction sites, hoping to find a good deal. There were a few listings, but most of them were either unsigned or way out of my budget. I mean, some of those autographed ones were going for crazy prices! I scrolled through pages and pages, and man, it was tough. I almost gave up hope.
The Search Continues
Then, I remembered about those specialized collectible stores. You know, the ones that deal with sports memorabilia and stuff. I figured they might have something. I looked up a few local shops and made some calls. Most of them didn’t have it, but one place said they might be able to source it for me. The catch? It would take time, and there was no guarantee of the price. I decided to explore this option.
- Called a bunch of shops.
- Most said no.
- One said maybe.
A Glimmer of Hope
Meanwhile, I kept digging online. I stumbled upon some forums where UFC fans were discussing their collections. I posted a message asking if anyone had a UFC 189 poster they were willing to part with. I got a few responses, but nothing concrete. It was mostly people sharing their own stories about the event or their own collections. I read everything.
I decided to check some social media groups dedicated to UFC and MMA memorabilia. I joined a few and started browsing through the posts. I saw a few people talking about the poster, but no one was selling. I posted my own message, hoping for a bite. And guess what? Someone finally replied!
This guy said he had an extra, unsigned poster from the event. He had been there live and grabbed a couple of posters. We chatted a bit, and he seemed legit. We agreed on a price that was reasonable, and he even offered to meet up in person to make the exchange. Finally, after months of searching, I was going to get my hands on that poster!
I met up with the seller, and he was a cool dude. We talked about the event, and he showed me the poster. It was in great condition, just like he said. I paid him, and we shook hands. I was so excited to finally have it. I thanked him, and we parted ways.
I carefully took the poster home and immediately started looking for a frame. I found a nice one that would protect it and display it properly. I carefully placed the poster in the frame, and it looked amazing. Now, I have a piece of UFC history hanging on my wall, and it reminds me of that incredible night of fights. Every time I look at it, I am so satisfied.
