Okay, so, let’s talk about this fight I tried to set up. It’s this thing between Shakur Stevenson and Artem Harutyunyan. I was so hyped, you know? I’m a huge boxing fan, always have been.
First thing I did was I went online to get the 411 on these two fighters. I found out Shakur is some kind of champ, 21 wins, no losses, with 10 knockouts. This guy is like, a big deal. Artem, on the other hand, was 12-1, so he’s no slouch either. I was really into this match.
Then, I tried to get tickets. I thought, “Man, I gotta be there!” It was supposed to be at the Prudential Center, that place is huge. I tried to see if any of my buddies wanted to go, but it was tough to get them to commit. They’re all, “Yeah, maybe,” and you know how that goes.
I also tried to get into the whole fight card thing. I figured if I’m gonna watch one fight, I might as well watch them all, right? So, I started looking up who else was fighting. I was trying to figure out how many I could possibly see in the time I had available.
I also tried to make it a whole experience. I looked up some cool wallpapers, nothing special just some general 2K resolution stuff for my PC. Then, I was looking at some boards on Pinterest, just to get some ideas for how to make it a whole event for myself. I saw some things about Hannah Storm, she’s cool, but it wasn’t really related.
And then, oh man, work got in the way. I had this contract position, right? It was supposed to be all about web development. I was only there a week, and I had to make a tough call and quit. It messed up my whole plan to watch the fight because I had to deal with all of that and it just took the wind right out of my sails. I wanted to use this Real User Monitoring thing from Datadog to see how the website was doing during the fight, maybe get some stats, but that didn’t happen either.
Anyway, turns out Shakur won by unanimous decision. I heard it was 119-109 or something, which sounds pretty one-sided. I wanted to see the whole card but I still haven’t managed to do so, and I feel like I missed out big time, especially because of the work thing. Still, I’m gonna try to catch up on what happened. Maybe I’ll get some friends together to make it a thing after the fact.
So yeah, that’s my story. It didn’t go as planned, but hey, that’s life, right?
