So, today, let’s talk about Jack Harbaugh and Bowling Green. Man, that brings back some memories.
First off, I’m a huge football fan, always have been. Got interested in Jack Harbaugh a while back. He’s an old-school football coach, you know? Played back in the day, then coached. What really caught my eye was his time at Bowling Green State University. Started digging into his playing career there. Found out he played for the Falcons from 1957 to 1960.
Checked out some old rosters online, and yep, there he was: Jack Harbaugh, number 13, quarterback. Even saw a picture of him in his uniform. Pretty cool, right?
- Started browsing around, trying to find more info on his time at Bowling Green.
- Read that the Falcons were a big deal back then.
- They even won the Mid-American Conference championship in 1959, with Harbaugh on the team.
- Figured out that had to be a huge moment for him and the whole university.
Kept searching, and stumbled upon some stuff about his family. Turns out, his parents were big supporters of Bowling Green, too. They’re even called “Falcon Flames.” Sounds like a real football family. It’s kinda heartwarming, you know, seeing that kind of dedication. Spent a good chunk of the day just reading about that.
Following up with Jack’s coaching
Then, of course, I had to look into his coaching career. He coached at a bunch of places, but the Bowling Green connection always stood out to me. It’s like his roots, you know? I mean, the guy’s a legend in his own right. Learned he was the head coach at Western Michigan University, and then Western Kentucky University. He even served as an Associate Athletic Director for Marquette University. That is an impressive career.
His personal life is also interesting. Read that he married his wife Jackie in 1961 and they have three kids: John, Jim, and Joani. They’re all involved in football, too. It’s a family affair! He is of German and Irish descent.
Anyways, that’s my little deep dive into Jack Harbaugh and Bowling Green. Just wanted to share my findings. It’s always fun to learn about the history of the game and the people who made it what it is. Football’s more than just a game, it’s about the stories, the people, the connections. And Jack Harbaugh’s story is definitely one worth knowing.
