Okay, so, I was messing around online, just killing time, and I got curious about how much money those big-shot general managers in the NFL make. You know, the guys calling the shots, building teams, all that jazz. Figured it couldn’t be a bad gig, right?
So I started digging, and boy, was I all over the place. First, I just hit up Google like everyone else. Typed in something simple like, “NFL general manager salary” and boom! A bunch of stuff popped up. The numbers were kind of all over the place.
I started clicking through the search results. Some sites were saying these guys rake in anywhere from $1 million to a crazy $7.5 million a year. Others were a little more conservative, saying the average was somewhere between $1 and $3 million. Then I landed on another one that was saying that the average NFL GM makes 94K a year, with 19k additional pay like bonuses and stuff. Seemed low compared to the others, but what do I know?
I kept going, just browsing around, you know how it is. One of the things I came across talked about how a bunch of these GMs actually think they’re paid fairly. Like, half of them, apparently! Can you believe that? Making millions and thinking it’s all good. Must be nice, huh?
- Found one article that had a table of player earnings.
- Another one mentioned a specific GM, Jeff Ireland, who supposedly made around $2.8 million in 2011.
I spent a good chunk of time just clicking and reading, and honestly, it felt like the more I read, the more confusing it got. But one thing was clear: these guys are definitely making bank. And it seems like it all depends on the team, the GM’s experience, and probably a bunch of other stuff that I wouldn’t even know about.
Anyway, that’s how I spent my afternoon. Just thought I’d share my little internet adventure. It’s crazy how much money is floating around in the NFL, right? Makes you think about your own life choices, haha!
