Okay, so, I’ve been playing a ton of Brawl Stars lately, and I’ve been experimenting with Surge. He’s a pretty cool brawler, but figuring out the best build for him took some time. I’ll tell you all about my trial and error so you don’t have to go through it yourself.
My Initial Thoughts
First, I started off thinking Surge was all about speed. I mean, his whole thing is upgrading himself, right? So I went all-in on his movement speed star power and gadget. I figured if I could get in and out quickly, I could dominate. But, honestly, it was kinda hit or miss.
Experimenting with Builds
- Speed Build: I loaded him up with the speed star power and the gadget that teleports him a short distance. I was zooming around the map like a crazy person, but I felt a bit squishy. I could get in, do some damage, but getting out was tough if the other team focused on me.
- Damage Build: Then I went the other way. I swapped to his star power that makes his main attack split after hitting a wall or max range. I also used the gadget that gives him an instant reload. I was doing a lot more damage, but I was also a lot slower, making it hard to chase enemies or escape.
Finding the Balance
After a bunch of games, I realized the best Surge build is a mix of both. I stick with the “To the Max!” star power because that split shot is just too good to pass up. It can hit multiple enemies, charge his super faster, and generally makes him a bigger threat.
For the gadget, I’ve found that “Power Surge” is a better all-around choice. It gives him that extra speed when he needs it most. It’s great for closing the gap on enemies, escaping bad situations, or just getting to his next upgrade faster. You really want those upgrades ASAP, especially in the early game.
Gears
And for gears, I’ve been using a combination of damage and speed. It just works the best for me. When I’m at low health, I have the shield gear, too, to give me a little more survivability.
The Result
With this build, I’m way more consistent with Surge. I can deal good damage, I’m mobile enough to dodge and weave, and I can still get those crucial upgrades to become a real powerhouse. Trust me, give this build a try, and you’ll see what I mean. It’s a game-changer!
It’s worth noting that everyone plays differently, so what works for me might not be your perfect setup. But hey, that’s part of the fun of Brawl Stars, right? Experiment, find what feels good for you, and keep on brawling!
