So, I’ve been diving back into the world of Fortnite lately, and man, the nostalgia hit me hard. I really wanted to revisit the old map, the one from the good old days, you know? I did some digging and found a way to actually play on it again. Let me tell you, it was a trip down memory lane.
First, I had to find the right tools. It wasn’t as simple as just clicking a button in the game, unfortunately. Epic Games doesn’t officially support going back to the old maps, so I had to do a bit of searching. There were a few different methods mentioned online, but most of them seemed pretty sketchy or didn’t work anymore.

Eventually, I stumbled upon this thing called “Project Rift.” It’s basically a fan-made project that lets you play on older versions of Fortnite. The setup took me a few hours though. I download the project from their website, and extracted the files. It was a pretty big download, like 100GB or something. Then came the tricky part. There were tons of instructions and I had to follow them really carefully, step by step, to get it all working.
Setup details
Installed the client. Launched the game through their custom launcher. At first, nothing happened, and I thought I messed up somewhere. But then, boom, the old loading screen popped up, and I was in. The familiar music, the old lobby background, it was all there.
I hopped into a match, and there it was, the old map in all its glory. I landed at Tilted Towers, just like I used to back in the day. It felt so different, yet so familiar at the same time. The buildings were the same, the loot spawns, everything. I spent hours just running around, exploring all my old favorite spots. I even found some old clips I had saved and tried to recreate them.
Honestly, it was such a blast from the past. It made me realize how much the game has changed over the years. Sure, the new maps are cool and all, but there’s just something special about the original. It’s where it all started for me, and I’m sure for a lot of other players too. If you’re feeling nostalgic and want to experience the old Fortnite again, I definitely recommend checking out Project Rift. Just be prepared for a bit of a setup process. Trust me, it’s worth it in the end.
