Okay, so, I tried to set up a fantasy football draft with my buddies, 10 of us in total. We are all new to this, so I was wondering how long this draft thing would actually take.
First, I searched online, trying to find out what the average draft time is for a 10-team league. Many websites suggested that it typically takes around 90 minutes to 2 hours. Some even mentioned that it could go up to 3 hours. It seems to be in the range of 1.5 to 3 hours. Hmm, that’s a pretty wide range.
Next, I decided to ask some friends who have done this before. One guy said that their drafts usually last about 2 hours. Another buddy mentioned that it can sometimes drag on a bit longer, especially if people are not prepared or take too long to make their picks. It sounds like everyone has a different experience.
Then, I thought about the time limits for each pick. We set a 90-second time limit per pick for our draft. With 10 teams and usually 15 rounds, that should add up to about 37.5 minutes (1.5 minutes/pick 10 teams 15 rounds = 225 minutes, then divided by 60). If everyone takes the full 90 seconds, it should be around 225 minutes. However, our draft finished in about 2 hours. I guess not everyone used the full 90 seconds for each pick. Some guys already knew who they wanted, and some picks went pretty fast.
We also took a few short breaks in between rounds to grab snacks and drinks. And there was a lot of back-and-forth talk, which is half the fun, right? Those breaks and all the chatting probably added another 30 minutes or so to the whole thing.
My conclusion
- Preparation is key: Some of my friends did their homework beforehand, and it really showed. They made their picks quickly and confidently.
- Time limits help: Having a time limit for each pick definitely kept things moving. Without it, we might still be drafting now!
- Breaks are good: Taking short breaks helped us stay focused and made the whole experience more enjoyable.
In the end, our 10-team fantasy draft took about 2 hours. Not too bad! It was a lot of fun, and now we are all set for the season. I can’t wait to see how our teams do.
