Alright, so today I wanted to dive into something I’ve been messing around with: figuring out the best BYU basketball players. It’s tougher than it sounds, trust me! I started, like always, by just thinking about the names that instantly popped into my head.

I started jotting down names on a piece of paper – old-school, I know. It was a mix of players I’d seen growing up and some I’d only heard stories about from my dad and uncles. You know, the legends.
Then, I moved to the internet, cause, well, that’s what you do. I spent a good chunk of time, browsing through old articles and forums, it is full of fan opinions.
Digging Deep
- First I looked up, offical stats. Points per game, rebounds, assists, all that stuff. Numbers don’t lie, right? But they also don’t tell the whole story.
- Next, I tried to find old game footage. This was trickier. Some of the older stuff is hard to come by, but I wanted to see these guys in action, not just read about them.
- And I compared with their show on court.
After all that, I put together my own little “ranking” – totally subjective, of course. It’s more like a list of players I think are amazing, each for different reasons. It’s a fun project, and I’m always tweaking it as I learn more. And I realised that, the best players aren’t just about the numbers, they’re about the impact they had on the game, and the memories they created for fans like me.
