Alright, so I was digging around in my attic the other day, and guess what I stumbled upon? A box of old baseball cards! I used to collect these things like crazy when I was a kid. And right there, nestled among all the others, was a Mickey Mantle coin. I totally forgot I even had this thing!

First thing I did was, you know, just hold it and kind of admire it. It brought back a flood of memories. I remember getting it, must’ve been from a pack of cards or maybe a cereal box promotion, who knows?
My Journey to Find the Value
-
Step 1: The Eyeball Test. I gave it a good once-over. It wasn’t in mint condition, that’s for sure. Had a few little scratches, and the edges were a bit worn. Still, it was Mickey Mantle!
-
Step 2: Hit Up the Internet. Started poking around online, looking at similar coins. Saw a whole bunch of different ones, some in way better shape than mine, some worse. Prices were all over the place, which was kind of confusing.
-
Step 3: Check Condition. I know that condition matters a ton for value with these things. I noticed some minor wear and tear, and figured it wouldn’t be graded as “mint.”
-
Step 4: Compare Listings. I found a few similar coins in comparable shape and got a rough price range, it’s not worth a fortune, but enough for a little fun.
-
Step 5: Ask Expert or Not. I finally get the conclusion that do not bother getting it professionally graded or appraised, the cost would probably outweigh the coin’s actual value.
So, I didn’t strike it rich, but I did rediscover a cool little piece of my childhood. And that’s pretty priceless, right? Now it’s sitting on my desk, a fun little reminder of the good old days. I think I’ll just keep it. It’s more about the memories than the money, anyway.
