Okay, so I saw this “all over again” clue in the NYT crossword today and thought, “I gotta figure this out and share my whole process.” It’s kinda fun to see how these things come together, right?

Digging In
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up the NYT crossword app. I usually do these things while I’m chilling on the couch, so that’s where I was. I scrolled to today’s puzzle and found the clue.
My initial thought was, “Okay, ‘all over again’… what words or phrases mean that?” I started brainstorming:
- “Anew”?
- “Once more”?
- “Afresh”?
Trying Stuff Out
I typed in “ANEW” first, just to see if it fit. Nope. Too short. Dang it!
Then I tried “ONCE MORE”. Still no luck. I was starting to feel a little stuck, but I wasn’t giving up!
I looked at the crossing clues – the words that intersect with this one. Sometimes those give you hints, you know? Like, if one of the crossing letters is definitely a ‘T’, then you know the word you’re looking for has to have a ‘T’ in that spot.
I noticed that other answer in that area, It seems like an S letter at the start of this word.
The “Aha!” Moment
I tried to type “START”, that is the anwser. All right.

So there you have it! That’s how I tackled the “all over again” clue today. It’s not always a straight line, but that’s part of the fun, isn’t it?
