Okay, so I’ve been a huge wrestling fan since I was a kid, and Chris Masters, “The Masterpiece,” always stood out. That physique! So, I decided to dig into his workout and see if I could, you know, maybe add a little something to my own routine. It wasn’t about becoming him, but more like…inspiration, I guess.

First, I tried to find everything I could about his actual workouts. Easier said than done! There’s not like, a step-by-step guide signed by the man himself. But, you piece things together from interviews, old forum posts, and, well, just watching the guy.
What I gathered was this:
- Heavy Lifting: This was no surprise. We’re talking about a guy built like a brick house. I figured lots of compound exercises. Squats, deadlifts, bench press – the basics, but heavy.
- High Volume: I saw some mentions of doing a lot of sets and reps. Not necessarily crazy high reps, but more like that classic bodybuilding range of 8-12, sometimes pushing to 15.
- Split Routine: This made sense. Working different muscle groups on different days. Chest and triceps one day, back and biceps another, legs, shoulders…you get the idea. Allows for recovery, see.
- Some “Old School” Stuff: I read about him doing some things my grandpa probably did. Like, full body workouts sometimes, and even some strongman type stuff.
My Attempt (And it’s a Work in Progress!)
So, I didn’t jump straight into some insane routine. I’m not a pro wrestler, and I have a day job! I started incorporating some of the principles, gradually.
I started focusing more on those big lifts. I’d been doing them, but I really made them the center of my workouts. Added some weight, made sure my form was good (very important!).
I upped the sets a bit. Instead of, say, 3 sets of 10 on bench press, I might do 4 or even 5 sets, playing with the weight to keep it challenging but doable.
My split is still evolving. I’m trying different combinations. One week I might do a classic push/pull/legs split. Another week, I might throw in a full-body day just to mix things up. It’s all about feeling it out, you know?
The “old school” stuff… I haven’t tried flipping any tires yet! But I did add some farmer’s walks, carrying heavy dumbbells for distance. It’s surprisingly tough, and it works your grip like crazy.
Honestly, it’s been tough! It’s definitely a different kind of training than what I was used to. More demanding, for sure. But I’m feeling stronger, and that’s the main thing. I’m not expecting to look like Chris Masters anytime soon (or ever!), but it’s been fun to push myself in a new way, inspired by one of my wrestling favorites.

It’s all about the journey, right? Keep tweaking, keep learning, and see where it takes you. That’s my motto, anyway.
