Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at crosswords lately, and everyone always says the NYT crossword is like, the crossword, you know? So I figured I’d give it a serious shot today. Here’s how it went down.

Getting Started
First, I grabbed my phone. I used to do these on paper, but honestly, the app is just way easier. I opened up the NYT Crossword app. I already paid for the subscription months ago, it’s worth it.
Diving In
I always start with the across clues, just going down the line. If I don’t know one, I just skip it and move on. The little ones, like three or four-letter words, those are usually pretty easy to figure out, or at least take a good guess at.
- The first few were simple. I filled them in without much trouble.
- Then I hit a couple that I just had no idea about. Totally blank.
- So, I jumped to the downs, seeing if any of those intersecting letters would give me a hint. That’s a trick I learned from watching those crossword tournament videos – work the intersections!
The Struggle is Real
Man, some of these clues were tough. Like, really obscure stuff. I spent a good five minutes just staring at one clue, trying to think of anything that would fit. I even googled a couple of things (don’t tell anyone!), but sometimes even that doesn’t help. The NYT crossword is not easy!
Making Progress (Slowly)
I kept plugging away, going back and forth between the across and down clues. Every time I filled in a word, it felt like a tiny victory. And sometimes, getting one word would unlock a whole bunch of others. That’s the best feeling.
Victory! (Sort Of)
Finally, after a way too long time, I finished it! I mean I was very very exicted! It’s not a very fast time, but I finished all words. And it felt so great, I shared my result to my friend.
It’s definitely a challenge, but it’s also kind of addictive. I can see why people get so into these things. I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s puzzle.
