Well now, if you’ve been playin’ MLB The Show 24 and wonderin’ how all them buttons work, don’t you worry none. I’ll tell you all you need to know, just like I’d tell one of the young ones in the village, only without the fancy talk. Just follow these here instructions and you’ll be swingin’ like a pro in no time.
First off, there’s four big things you gotta know: hittin’, pitchin’, fieldin’, and runnin’ them bases. Each one got its own buttons and ways to use ‘em. I reckon we’ll start with hittin’—now, pay close attention.
Hittin’: When it comes to hittin’, it’s all about timing and aim. You gotta press the X button just right when that pitch comes in. Don’t press it too early or too late, or else you’ll miss it. I like to call it “feelin’ the ball.” The plate coverage indicator—well, that’s somethin’ you gotta aim at with the Left Stick. When it gets to the right spot, hit that button. If you’re tryin’ to check your swing, just tap the B button lightly, don’t smash it. You can also use A button, Y button, and them other buttons dependin’ on what kind of swing you want to take.
Pitchin’: Now, pitchin’ is a whole nother thing. You gotta be quick with the Right Stick for your pitch type. Flickin’ it in the right direction helps you throw what you want. Don’t forget to use the R2 button for that extra oomph, or RT (R2 on Xbox) to give it a little more spin. It’s all about the feel, like when you’re makin’ butter or churnin’ milk—timing’s everything!
Fieldin’: When you’re out in the field, you gotta be fast on your feet. The Left Stick helps you move around, but to make them fancy catches, you’ll need to press the R1 button to dive or jump. Say you’re near the wall, and you see that ball comin’—you better start sprintin’ towards it, and when you’re close, press R1 to jump. Now don’t you go pressin’ it too soon, or you won’t have enough time to make that catch!
Baserunnin’: Base runnin’ ain’t too hard, but you gotta know when to go and when to stop. While you’re hittin’, you can hold down the R2 button to sprint. When you’re roundin’ them bases, tap R1 to slide into a base if you’re tryin’ to beat the throw. If you’re leadin’ off the base, make sure you don’t get too far—hold down L2 button to take a small lead and be ready to run.
But don’t you fret if it don’t come easy at first. Just like anythin’ else, it’ll take practice, but soon you’ll be swingin’ like a seasoned ballplayer. And when you’re out there in the field, just remember—keep your eyes on that ball and your hands on the controller. If you know what you’re doin’, you’ll be makin’ them plays like nobody’s business.
So, to sum it up, MLB The Show 24 controls might seem a bit tricky at first, but they ain’t nothing you can’t handle. You got your hittin’, pitchin’, fieldin’, and base runnin’. Just remember them buttons: X, A, B, Y, L2, R1… It’s all about practice and timing, just like a good ol’ fashioned game of catch in the yard. Now go out there and show ’em what you got!
