Okay, so today I decided to dive into some baseball data and compare Shohei Ohtani and Logan Webb. I’ve been hearing a lot about both of them, and I wanted to see what the numbers would tell me.

First, I grabbed their stats. Now, I’m not a professional analyst or anything, I just used some websites that have all the game data. I made sure to get data from the same seasons, so it would be a fair comparison. It was a little bit of clicking around, but I eventually got all the numbers into a spreadsheet. I felt like a real data scientist for a minute there!
Digging into the Numbers
- I started by looking at basic stuff: ERA, strikeouts, walks, you know, the usual suspects. Ohtani’s numbers as a pitcher are pretty impressive, but so are Webb’s!
- Then, I remembered Ohtani also hits, so I had to check out his batting stats too. Home runs, RBIs, batting average… the guy is a beast on both sides of the ball.
- I spent a good chunk of time just staring at the numbers, trying to see any patterns or big differences. It’s kinda mesmerizing, all those stats lined up.
After all that data crunching, I started to form some opinions. Both of these guys are seriously talented. I mean, it’s not really surprising, they’re both Major League players! But it was cool to see the actual numbers and compare them side-by-side.
Ohtani’s unique in that he dominates at pitching and at bat, while Webb is an absolute workhorse on the mound.
So, that was my little data adventure for the day. It was fun to play around with the numbers and learn more about these two awesome players.
