Okay, so today I decided to check out this match everyone’s been talking about: Ben Shelton vs. Radu Albot. I’ve been hearing a lot about Shelton’s serve, and I wanted to see it for myself, plus, Radu is always fun to watch so I wanted to practice my data records.

First things first, I found a stream. The quality was not great, it kept buffering, but hey, it was free. I had my notebook ready, a pen, and some snacks,of course.
The Match Begins
The match started, and wow, Shelton’s serve is something else. It’s not just the speed; it’s the placement and the spin he gets on it. I started jotting down some notes:
- “Serve out wide – ace!”
- “Second serve, deep, forces error.”
- “Body serve, Radu can’t handle it.”
I was trying to keep track of how many aces he hit, but honestly, I lost count after a while. It was a blur of fast serves and quick points.
Radu, on the other hand, was playing his usual game. Lots of running, retrieving balls, trying to make Shelton play that extra shot. I made some notes about his game too:
- “Great get on the drop shot!”
- “Unforced error, backhand wide.”
- “Double fault – pressure getting to him?”
My Observations
I tried to get my record data more specific, for every point, I wrote about the serve, footwork and result, and then the opponent’s situation, but I could only catch some of them because it was so fast, sometimes I even wondered did they really play that game? It’s just insane.
After the match ended I’m still shocked and so excited. I will definitely keep an eye on future matches and record more data. I’m also thinking about focusing on one or two data to track to see how they go.
