Okay, so I’ve been messing around with the new 1.15 update for the factory, specifically the chemical part. Let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a ride. Here’s how it went down for me:

Getting Started
First thing I did was check out the updated tech tree. Noticed a bunch of new recipes and intermediates related to chemicals. I figured, “Alright, time to revamp my old setup.” I started by dismantling my basic chemical processing area. It was just a few chemical plants churning out sulfur and plastic, nothing fancy.
Building the Foundation
I laid down a new blueprint, aiming for something more scalable. The biggest change was separating the production lines for different chemical products. I created dedicated areas for:
- Sulfur production
- Plastic manufacturing
- Advanced chemical processing (the new stuff!)
This was a bit of a pain because it meant reorganizing my entire resource input system. I had to reroute a lot of pipes and belts, which, you know, is always fun.
Tackling the New Recipes
The new recipes were the real challenge. They require a bunch of new fluids and intermediates that I hadn’t even touched before. So, I spent a good chunk of time just figuring out the optimal ratios and production chains. It involved a lot of trial and error, let me tell you. Lots of running back and forth, checking outputs, and tweaking things.
I set up some chemical plants to try those.
Dealing with Byproducts
One thing that caught me off guard was the increased number of byproducts. Some of the new chemical processes generate stuff you don’t really need. I ended up having to create a whole separate system just to handle these byproducts, either storing them or finding ways to reprocess them into something useful. It added another layer of complexity, but hey, that’s the game, right?
Final Touches and Optimization
After a lot of tinkering, I finally got a somewhat stable system running. It’s definitely not perfect, and I’m sure I’ll be optimizing it for weeks to come. But at least it’s producing the new chemicals I need for the updated research and recipes. I added some buffer chests and monitoring systems to keep an eye on everything. That helped a lot with identifying bottlenecks and preventing any major shutdowns.
Overall, it was a pretty intense build, but also quite rewarding. I learned a ton about the new chemical processes, and I feel like my factory is now much more prepared for the late-game challenges. If you’re tackling this update, be prepared for some serious rebuilding and a lot of head-scratching. But trust me, it’s worth it in the end!
