So, the other day I was trying to figure out how much 135 pounds was in stone, you know, just out of curiosity. It’s not something I usually deal with, being used to pounds and kilograms.

First, I grabbed my phone and did a quick search. It turns out that converting pounds to stone isn’t as straightforward as, say, pounds to kilograms. There’s a bit of a remainder situation going on.
The Conversion Process
- I found out that one stone is equal to 14 pounds. So, I couldn’t just multiply like I would with kilograms.
- I divided 135 by 14 to see how many whole stones we were talking about.
- That gave me 9 with a remainder. Specifically, 9 stone and some extra pounds.
I realized I needed to figure out that remainder.
It turns out that after I subtracted those 9 stone (which is 9 multiplied by 14 pounds), I was left with 9 pounds.
So, basically, 135 pounds is 9 stone and 9 pounds.
Then there’s the decimal way of saying it, something like 9.64 stone, that is good too. But I like the stone and pounds way of thinking about it best.
It’s always fun to learn these little conversion things, even if you don’t use them every day!
