Okay, so today I decided to dive into this “Gale Lewis Zone Wars” thing everyone’s been talking about. I’m not gonna lie, I’m kinda late to the party, but hey, better late than never, right?

First things first, I had to figure out what the heck it even was. Turns out, it’s a custom game mode in Fortnite. Basically, it simulates those intense end-game scenarios where the storm is closing in and you’re forced into a tiny area with a bunch of other players. It’s all about quick building, fast edits, and, well, not dying.
Getting Started (and Failing Miserably)
I jumped into Creative mode and started looking for the map. I typed in “Gale Lewis” but the serach result is nothing. so I have to search it on internet and finally find the island * took a few tries, Found it! Entered the code, and boom, I was in.
My first few rounds? Let’s just say they weren’t pretty. I was getting absolutely destroyed. Everyone was building like they were on fast-forward, and my edits were, uh, let’s call them “rustic”. I felt like a baby deer trying to keep up with a pack of wolves. Seriously, I spent more time spectating than actually playing.
Practice Makes… Slightly Better
But I’m stubborn, so I kept at it. I started watching some other players, trying to pick up on their techniques. I noticed they were using certain building patterns, editing really quickly, and, most importantly, they weren’t panicking (unlike me).
I dedicated some time to just practicing my building and editing in a separate Creative map. I focused on things like:
- 90s: You know, those quick ramp-wall-floor combos that let you get high ground super fast.
- Edits: Opening windows, doors, making quick peeks – all that good stuff.
- Box Fights: Practicing those close-quarters battles where you’re basically trapped in a box with another player.
After a while, I started to feel a little more comfortable. I was still getting eliminated pretty regularly, but I was lasting longer, getting a few more eliminations, and generally feeling less like a complete noob.
Finally, Some Success!
Then, it happened. I actually won a round! It wasn’t pretty, and I definitely got lucky a few times, but I managed to outlast everyone else. The feeling was amazing! Like, I actually did something right for once.
I’m still far from being a “Gale Lewis Zone Wars” pro, but I’m definitely improving. It’s a fun, challenging mode that really forces you to get better at the core mechanics of Fortnite. If you’re looking for a way to improve your building, editing, and overall game sense, I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared to get humbled a few times (or a lot of times) along the way.

I continue to practice *’s a long way to go!
