Oh, you heard of Terquavion Smith, huh? Well, let me tell ya a bit about this young fella. He’s a basketball player, sure enough. Played for NC State, that big ol’ school over in North Carolina. Some folks say he’s real talented, and I reckon they ain’t wrong. Born in Greenville, North Carolina, he’s just 21 years old, but already making waves. Real tall too, stands at 6-foot-4, though he ain’t too heavy. When he first came into the league, they said he only weighed 165 pounds! You wouldn’t expect such a tall fella to be so light, but I guess it works for him on the court.
Now, Terquavion ain’t no stranger to playing in big games. I hear he was the top scorer in the ACC when he was still playing for NC State. That’s a big deal, let me tell ya. Scoring a lot of points in a tough league like that shows he got the skill and the nerve. They say he’s quick, can shoot the ball real well, and knows how to move on the court like a fish in water. He ain’t afraid to take the ball to the basket either, always pushing forward.
He played so well that folks were talking about him maybe going high in the NBA Draft. A lotta people thought he might get picked in the first round, maybe even the lottery! But you know how the draft goes, things don’t always turn out how you think. So, Terquavion ended up signing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers in the summer of 2023. Ain’t that something? A young fella like him, already in the NBA, playin’ for a big team like that. They gave him a contract worth $559,782 for the year, which is a lotta money to us regular folks, I tell ya that!
But he didn’t stay with the 76ers for too long. A little while after that, I heard he made a move to China, playing for the Jiangsu Dragons in the Chinese Basketball Association. I reckon it’s a big ol’ adventure for him, being so far from home, but I imagine he’s just glad for the opportunity to keep playing basketball, no matter where it’s at. And who knows, maybe he’ll do real well there too, showing folks over in China just what he’s made of.
So what’s next for Terquavion? Well, time will tell. He’s still young, still got a lot of basketball ahead of him, and maybe he’ll end up back in the NBA someday. I wouldn’t be surprised if he keeps moving up, gettin’ more recognition for all the hard work he’s put in. But whatever happens, I reckon he’ll keep doing what he loves, and that’s playing basketball.
