Now, I ain’t no expert in football, but I can tell ya one thing: this Feely family sure knows how to kick a ball. Jay Feely, he’s an ol’ NFL kicker, played many a year, and now his son, Jace Feely, he’s following right in his daddy’s footsteps. Now Jace, he’s playin’ for the University of Colorado, and he’s doin’ mighty fine, ‘cept for one thing. He’s had to go under the knife a couple times. That’s right, he’s had two surgeries since he joined them Colorado Buffaloes. I reckon it’s tough when you’re young and tryin’ to make a name for yourself, but injuries sure don’t help none. The poor boy’s been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season, but let me tell ya, when you come from a family of kickers, you don’t give up that easy.
Now, let’s talk about Jay Feely. He ain’t just some fella who kicked a ball a few times. Nope, he had himself a real career in the NFL. Played for 14 years, that’s right, 14! Back in 2002, he led the whole dang league in field goals made. He got himself a Pro Bowl nod too, that’s an honor for sure. But before all that fancy NFL business, Jay Feely started off in the Arena Football League. Ain’t that somethin’? He made a name for himself in the arena before movin’ on to bigger and better things in the NFL.
Now, Jace Feely, he ain’t just a regular kicker neither. I’ve heard folks say he’s got real talent. They say he’s a five-star kicker, ranked high up in them fancy kickin’ lists like Kohl’s Kicking and Chris Sailer’s rankings. Matter of fact, Sailer got him as the No. 13 kicker in the whole country, now that’s some good company to be keepin’. But, like I said, injury troubles have kept him from showin’ off all that talent this year. Ain’t nothin’ easy about bein’ a kicker, especially when you’re tryin’ to follow in your daddy’s big ol’ footsteps.
Now, Jay Feely and his wife, Rebecca, they’re livin’ out in Arizona these days. They got four kids, and Jace is one of ’em. It’s a big ol’ family, but it sounds like they’re all real proud of Jace and what he’s been doin’. It can’t be easy, what with the pressure of having a dad who’s been in the NFL and all, but from what I hear, Jace is takin’ it in stride, even though he’s had a tough break with them injuries.
Feely’s been a kicker for so long, I reckon he knows how to handle adversity. And I wouldn’t be surprised if his son Jace does the same, even if he’s gotta sit out the rest of this season. Injuries can be a real setback, but that don’t mean it’s the end of the road. I’m sure Jace is gonna be back at it in no time, kickin’ that ball like his old man did in the NFL.
But for now, folks, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. Jay Feely’s legacy in the NFL is a strong one, and I’m sure his son’s gonna keep that kickin’ tradition alive. Ain’t no stoppin’ a Feely when they set their mind to somethin’, that’s for sure. So, we wish Jace Feely a speedy recovery, and I’m hopin’ we see him back out there on that field before too long. Good luck, Jace, from one old lady who’s watchin’ from the sidelines.
