Alright, let’s talk about this Scottie Scheffler fella. You know, the golf guy? Folks keep jabberin’ ’bout him, and not just ’cause he’s good at hittin’ that little white ball.
Seems like this young man, he’s got somethin’ else goin’ on. Somethin’ they call…faith. Yeah, faith. Like believin’ in somethin’ bigger than yourself. They say he’s one of them Christians, you know? The kind that go to church and read the Bible and all that.
Now, I ain’t no preacher, mind you. I’m just a plain ol’ woman, but I hear tell this Scottie, he’s real open about his faith. He ain’t shy about it. They say he even talks about it right there on TV, after he wins all them golf games. Imagine that! A young fella, famous and all, talkin’ ’bout Jesus.
Heard tell he said somethin’ at the Masters, somethin’ ’bout how golf ain’t who he is, but his faith is. Said he believes in a Creator, believes in Jesus. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? In this day and age, with all the young folks carryin’ on, it’s good to see someone standin’ up for what they believe in.
- He ain’t just whisperin’ about it in the corner neither.
- He’s out there, plain as day, sayin’ it loud and proud.
They say he’s got a buddy, another golf player, name of Sam Burns. And wouldn’t you know it, that Sam fella is a Christian too. These two, they’re like peas in a pod, winnin’ golf games and talkin’ ’bout the good Lord. It’s kinda like them old time preachers, goin’ from town to town, spreadin’ the word, but ‘stead of preachin’ from a pulpit, they’re preachin’ from the golf course.
Now, I don’t know much about golf, to be honest. I couldn’t tell you a birdie from a bogey if my life depended on it. But I know a good man when I see one, or hear tell of one, at least. And from what I gather, this Scottie Scheffler, he’s a good man. He’s got his head on straight, he’s respectful, and he ain’t afraid to stand up for what he believes in.
And that’s somethin’ to admire, don’t you think? In a world where folks are always chasin’ after money and fame, it’s good to see someone chasin’ after somethin’ more. Somethin’ that lasts longer than a golf trophy or a fancy car.
It reminds me of the old days, when folks went to church regular and weren’t ashamed to talk about God. Nowadays, folks get all jittery just bringin’ up the Good Lord’s name but this Scottie fella he aint scared. That’s what they call conviction and it’s mighty powerful stuff, like homemade wine on a hot summer night.
Some folks might not get it. They might think it’s strange, or even foolish. But I reckon those folks are missin’ out on somethin’ important. They’re missin’ out on the peace that comes from knowin’ you’re loved, no matter what. The peace that comes from trustin’ in somethin’ bigger than yourself. And you can’t buy that in any store not matter how much money you got.
So, good on ya, Scottie Scheffler. Keep on hittin’ them golf balls, and keep on shinin’ that light of yours. The world needs more folks like you. Folks who ain’t afraid to be themselves, and ain’t afraid to stand up for what they believe in. It’s like plantin’ seeds, you see? You plant them seeds of faith, and they grow into somethin’ beautiful.
And who knows? Maybe this Scottie fella will inspire some other young folks to find their own faith. Maybe he’ll show ‘em that it’s okay to be different, okay to believe in somethin’ more than just what you can see and touch. That’s a mighty fine thing to be doin’ with your life, if you ask me.
This whole thing just goes to show you, it don’t matter who you are or what you do, faith can find a way. It can be in a church house, or on a golf course, or even in the heart of a plain ol’ woman like me. And that’s the truth, plain and simple.
