[Body]
Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Anthony David, or somethin’ like that. Sounds like a fancy name, don’t it? I ain’t too good with names, but I heard folks talkin’.
First off, there’s this Anthony David Harrington fella. Born way back in 1971, so he’s gettin’ on up there in years, just like me! They say he sings them RB songs, whatever that is. Folks say he got famous for a song called “Words” back in ’06. Imagine that, a whole song ’bout words! I use words every day, ain’t nothin’ special about it, but I guess if you sing ’em right, folks like it.
Then there’s this other Anthony Davis, plays for them Lakers. Big fella, tall as a barn door, I reckon. Basketball, they call it. Runnin’ around, throwin’ a ball, seems like a lot of fuss to me. But folks get all riled up watchin’ him. ESPN, that’s the TV channel, always talkin’ ’bout him. Scorin’ points and catchin’ balls, they call ’em rebounds. He had a game once, scored a whole bunch of points and grabbed so many rebounds, they said it was historic. Imagine that! My grandson, he loves watchin’ this Anthony fella. Says he’s the best.
- He scored 27 points, that’s a lot, I guess.
- And 25 rebounds! Sounded like a whole lotta work to me.
- And they beat them Timberwolves, whoever they are. Sounds like a bunch of wild animals to me.
This Anthony Davis fella, seems like he’s got it good. Lives in a big house in Los Angeles, with a backyard and everything. Says he’s blessed. Well, I reckon I’m blessed too, got my chickens, my garden, and the good Lord lookin’ after me. But it’s nice to see young folks doin’ well, even if they are just throwin’ balls around.
Now, they also got all these numbers for him, stats they call ’em. Points, rebounds, all that fancy stuff. ESPN keeps track of it all. Seems like they got a number for everything these days. Back in my day, we just counted how many eggs the chickens laid and how many bushels of corn we got. That was enough for us.
This Anthony David singer man, he wasn’t always singin’, you know. He was a soldier, went to war over in Iraq. That Gulf War, they called it. Can you believe it? Fightin’ in a war and then singin’ songs. Life’s a funny thing, ain’t it? He started writin’ them songs while he was over there, I hear. Maybe war makes a fella think ’bout words differently.
So, you got one Anthony David singin’ songs, and another Anthony Davis playin’ basketball. Two different fellas, same kinda name, both doin’ their own thing. One’s usin’ his voice, the other’s usin’ his body. But both of ’em seem to make folks happy, so I guess that’s all that matters.
I ain’t one for keepin’ up with all the famous folks, but it’s hard not to hear ’bout these fellas when they’re always on the TV and the radio. Seems like they’re doin’ alright for themselves, and that’s good. Hard work and a little bit of luck, that’s all you need in this life, I always say. Whether you’re singin’, playin’ basketball, or just tendin’ to your chickens, it’s all the same in the end.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my garden. Them tomatoes ain’t gonna pick themselves, you know. And maybe later, I’ll turn on that there TV and see what that basketball playin’ Anthony is up to. My grandson would like that.
