Alright, so listen up, y’all. I’m gonna tell ya ’bout this Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name game, or whatever they call it. It’s like one of them stories where a fella tries to hide, ya know? Like when my ol’ man used to hide the cookies from us kids.
This fella, Kiryu Kazuma, he used to be a big shot, a yakuza they say. Sounds like trouble to me. Anyways, he pretended he was dead to keep his family safe. That’s somethin’ a good man does, protectin’ his own. But then, wouldn’t ya know it, some sneaky fella comes along and tries to drag him outta hidin’. Always some busybody stickin’ their nose where it don’t belong.
This Gaiden game, it’s like a sideway story, happens after Kiryu fakes his death and before some other stuff, I ain’t gonna lie, it’s a bit confusing, like tryin’ to follow them soap operas my daughter watches. But from what I gather, Kiryu’s just tryin’ to live a quiet life, but trouble keeps findin’ him. Reminds me of that time the cow got loose and we spent all day chasin’ it ’round the pasture.
Now, they say this game was made real quick, like six months or somethin’. They was makin’ other games at the same time too. Must’ve been workin’ their tails off, them city folks. I tell ya, workin’ in the fields is hard enough, I can’t imagine makin’ one of these fancy games.
They got this thing called Pocket Circuit in the game. It’s like racin’ them little cars, like what my grandson used to play with. They got all sorts of parts you can use to make your car faster. Metal Frame this, Power Motor Plus that. Sounds complicated, but I guess it’s fun for some folks. They even got places where you buy these parts, like a store in this Sotenbori place. Reminds me of that ol’ hardware store downtown, always had everything you needed.
- Metal Frame – You find it above the Daidoji Hideout in Sotonbori. Gotta use a Spider thing to get it.
- Metal Frame Plus – Get it at Ebisu Pawn Sotenboi for 980 yen. Pricey, huh?
- Michi-Michio (Decal) – Another thing from Ebisu Pawn Sotenboi, also 980 yen. Fancy stickers, I guess.
- Power Motor Plus – It’s on a pig sign, wherever that is.
They got these races you gotta win to unlock more races. It’s like when you gotta finish plantin’ one field before you can start on the next. And then there’s this fella named CourStar you gotta find in Sotenbori. Sounds like a wild goose chase to me. Always somethin’ or someone you gotta be lookin’ for in these games.
So, this Like a Dragon Gaiden game, it’s about Kiryu tryin’ to stay hidden, racin’ little cars, and lookin’ for people. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me. But hey, if that’s what folks like these days, then who am I to judge? Just sounds like a whole lotta runnin’ around if you ask me. Like tryin’ to catch a chicken in the yard, always slippin’ and slidin’ away.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, huh? Sounds like a mouthful. But I guess it’s got all them twists and turns to keep folks entertained. Me? I’d rather just sit on the porch with a glass of sweet tea, but that’s just me. You young folks with your fancy games and your city ways, you go on ahead and have your fun. Just don’t forget where you came from, ya hear?
