Alright, so listen up, y’all. I’m gonna tell ya ’bout this UFC 304 thing, like I heard it from my neighbor’s boy who’s always glued to that dang phone.
So, this UFC 304, right? It was a big deal, I guess. They had these fights, lots of ’em. People paid money to watch it on TV, they call it “pay-per-view,” somethin’ like that. Pay-per-view buys, that’s what they were countin’. Seems like a whole lotta folks wanted to see this thing, maybe 559,000 of ’em, or maybe more, who knows? That’s a heap of money, I tell ya.
- They fought in some fancy place, Marvel Stadium they called it. Sounded big.
- And get this, they made over five million dollars just from folks comin’ to watch in person! That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life, I betcha.
Now, this fella, Belal Muhammad, he was a tough one. He went and beat up this other guy, Leon Edwards, and took his belt. A “UFC 170-pound crown” they called it. Sounded important. He won fair and square, the fella said. Just kept hittin’ and hittin’ till the judges said he won. Unanimous decision, or somethin’ like that.
Then there was this other big fella, Tom Aspinall. He’s a heavyweight, which means he’s real big and strong. He won too, knocked the other guy out real quick. First round, bam, done! Folks like that, I reckon, quick and to the point.
They were talkin’ about rematches, fights where the same guys fight again. Said there were two of ’em, for the titles. UFC 304 card was stacked, the boy said. Means there were lots of good fights, I guess.
This whole thing, you gotta pay to watch it. It’s on somethin’ called ESPN+, and if you want it, you gotta subscribe. Sometimes it comes with other stuff, like Disney stuff. The boy was talkin’ ’bout a “bundle,” sounded like a lot of channels for one price. You get to watch all the UFC fights, old ones and new ones. And other fightin’ stuff too, from all over the world. They even got shows, like little stories, I think.
Now, this Dana fella, he’s the boss, I think. He was mad, real mad. Said the fights were borin’, too many decisions. That means they went the whole time without knockin’ each other out, just punchin’ and grapplin’. He didn’t like that. He said he ain’t givin’ out no more extra money for good fights, ’cause it didn’t make no difference. Folks still fought boring, he said. He was yellin’ and carryin’ on. Said there were seven decisions in a row! Imagine that, seven fights in a row with no knockouts!
They even talked about other UFC events, like UFC 310. Different fighters, different place. But it’s all the same, I guess, people punchin’ and kickin’ and tryin’ to win. And folks payin’ to watch it all. Seems like this UFC thing is a big business.
And they was talkin’ ’bout another fight, UFC 296, Edwards fightin’ somebody named Covington. For another title. In Las Vegas, this time. It’s always somethin’, ain’t it? Always another fight, another city, another chance to make some money.
So, that’s the gist of it, y’all. That’s what I heard about this UFC 304. Lots of fights, lots of money, and one angry boss man. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens.
