Alright, let’s gab about these gals who whack that golf ball a country mile. You know, the ones that make the ball go “whoosh” and you can barely see it land. They call it the “longest drive” in that fancy LPGA golf thing.
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I hear tell there’s this gal, Brittany Lincicome. Folks say she holds the record for the longest whack on that there LPGA tour. Happened back in 2017, during some shootout in Texas. Imagine that, a shootout with golf balls! Not real bullets, mind you, just those little white balls they smack around.
Then there’s this other young’un, Anne van Dam. They say she hit one almost 291 yards in 2021. That’s like three football fields, almost! Can you believe it? My old man used to say he could hit a ball far, but I bet he couldn’t do nothin’ like that. She must eat her Wheaties, that one.
- And there are others too, you know. Big names they say.
- Like this Lexi Thompson gal. They say she can really send it flyin’.
- And Nelly Korda and that Emily Pedersen. All these youngsters hittin’ the ball a mile.
Now, they got this average thing they talk about too. Somethin’ about how far they hit it on average, you know, like most of the time. This German gal, Polly Mack, she was the best at that in 2023. Hit it around 281 yards on average, they say. That’s still a heck of a long way, ain’t it?
But get this, there’s this one gal, Meti somethin’ or other, ranked number two in the whole world, they say. She hit one 414 yards! Can you even picture that? That’s like walkin’ from my house to the mailbox and back, twice! Apparently, that ain’t on the LPGA tour though, just some other competition. But still, 414 yards! That’s just plain crazy.
It makes you think about them older gals too, you know, like that Laura Davies and Michelle Wie. They were long hitters back in their day, or so I hear. But these youngsters today, they somethin’ else. They got that newfangled equipment and all that, I reckon.
It’s kinda like watchin’ those fellas mow hay. Used to be they’d do it by hand, slow and steady. Now they got these big machines that do it in a flash. Same with golf, I guess. These gals got the power, that’s for sure.
I tell you what, it’s somethin’ to see. Makes you wonder how much farther they gonna hit it in the future. Maybe they’ll need bigger golf courses! Who knows? But one thing’s for sure, these gals can smack that ball a long, long way. And that Brittany Lincicome, she’s the one they talk about most on that there LPGA thing.
So next time you see them on TV, or hear someone talkin’ about it, you remember what I told ya. Brittany Lincicome, Anne van Dam, and that Meti girl with the monster hit. They’re the ones sendin’ those golf balls into orbit, or so it seems.
And that Polly Mack, she’s pretty good too, hittin’ it far all the time. It’s somethin’ ain’t it? All these gals whacking that little ball farther than most folks can throw it. Golf sure has changed since I was a young’un. But it’s still fun to watch, even if I don’t understand half of it.
Anyway, that’s the gist of it. Longest drives, big hitters, and lots of yards. That’s what they’re all about in that LPGA world. And don’t forget that Meti gal, even if she ain’t on that LPGA thing all the time. 414 yards! That just blows my mind.
