Well, let me tell ya ’bout this golf thingy, the Maybank Championship. Sounds fancy, huh? They had it over in some place called Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia. Don’t ask me where that is, it’s far, far away, I reckon.
This Maybank thing, it’s a golf game. You know, them folks hittin’ little balls with sticks, tryin’ to get ’em in a hole. Seems like a silly game to me, but they give out big money, so I guess it ain’t so silly after all.
They played this game for four days. Started on a Thursday, then Friday, Saturday, and finished up on Sunday. Each day they call a “round,” like a round of bread, I guess. Thursday was Round 1, Friday was Round 2, and so on. Makes sense, kinda.
- Thursday: Round 1
- Friday: Round 2
- Saturday: Round 3
- Sunday: Round 4
This here game was at a place called the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. Sounds highfalutin, with all them fancy words. But it’s just a big ol’ field with little holes, far as I can tell. They got these pros playin’, real good at hittin’ that ball, I hear.
They was fightin’ for somethin’ called the Tiger Trophy. Sounds fierce! I bet that trophy ain’t made of no real tiger, though. Probably just some shiny metal thing. But them golfers, they sure wanted it bad.
And the money! Lordy, they was playin’ for a whole lotta money. Three million dollars, they say! That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life. They split it up amongst the players, the winner gettin’ the most, I reckon. Some girl named Ruoning Yin, she won it all. Good for her, I say.
You could watch it on somethin’ called the Golf Channel. I don’t have no fancy TV like that, just the ol’ box with a few channels. But folks who got that Golf Channel, they could see all the action.
This Maybank Championship, it ain’t the first time they done it. They had it last year too. Seems like they doin’ it every year now. Maybe they’ll keep doin’ it for a long time. Who knows?
So, that’s the gist of it. A bunch of folks hittin’ golf balls in a far-off land, playin’ for big money and a trophy. It’s a funny ol’ world, ain’t it?
And they say this golf game is part of somethin’ called the LPGA Tour. Don’t ask me what that means. Just a bunch of letters to me. But it sounds important, like a big deal for them golf folks. They go around playin’ in different places, I guess. Must be tirin’, all that travelin’.
This Kuala Lumpur place, they say it’s real pretty. I ain’t never been there, but I seen pictures. Lots of green grass and trees. Looks peaceful, ‘cept for when them golfers are yellin’ “Fore!” or whatever they yell when they hit that ball. I’d stick to my garden, myself.
They say this championship happened in October, from the 24th to the 27th. October’s a nice time of year, I reckon. Not too hot, not too cold. Just right for hittin’ golf balls, I guess.
Anyways, that’s all I know about this Maybank Championship. It’s a golf game, far away, with big money and a tiger trophy. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
