Alright, let’s gab about this Genshin green leaves thing, whatever that is. My grandson, that little whippersnapper, he’s always yappin’ about it. Says it’s some kinda game. Games these days, I tell ya, they ain’t like the good ol’ days when we just played hopscotch with rocks.
So, this Genshin… somethin’ somethin’, he says it’s got all sorts of things. Green leaves, I reckon, must be somethin’ you collect. Like them stamps my ol’ man used to hoard. Said they’d be worth a fortune someday. Hmph, all they did was collect dust.
He’s always glued to that phone, tappin’ away. Says he’s gotta “log in” to get his “rewards.” Sounds like a whole lotta fuss for nothin’ if you ask me. Takes just a few seconds, he says. Well, a few seconds here, a few seconds there, and afore you know it, the whole day’s gone! And what you got to show for it? Nothin’ but sore eyes and a crick in your neck.
- Log in quick, he says.
- Get your rewards, he says.
- Unlock game tools, he says.
Game tools? What in tarnation are game tools? Back in my day, our tools were shovels and hoes, not some fancy gizmos on a screen. But he gets all excited about it, bless his heart. Talks about “quests” and “unlocking barriers.” Sounds like hard work to me. Why would you wanna unlock a barrier in a game when you can barely keep the weeds outta the garden?
He was goin’ on and on the other day ‘bout some “Revelations From the Past” thing. Said it was part of a “quest chain.” Now, I’ve seen my fair share of chains, mostly on the ol’ well bucket, but this here’s a whole different kettle of fish. He says you gotta figure out how to open somethin’ or other. A barrier, he called it. Reminds me of that time the cows got out and we had to fix the fence. Now THAT was a barrier worth unlockin’!
And then there’s this “Arcane Archive,” whatever that is. Sounds mighty fancy. He says there’s a “secret stashed” in there. Secrets, secrets, always with the secrets. When I was a young’un, the only secrets we had were where we hid the cookie jar from Pa. This secret, though, it’s in a game. You gotta find it, he says. Well, I reckon if it’s that important, it wouldn’t be hidden in the first place.
This Genshin game, it’s got all sorts of things, from what I gather. Green leaves are probably just the tip of the iceberg. There’s all this talk about “unlocking” and “finding” and “rewards.” Seems like a whole lotta work for somethin’ that ain’t even real. But he enjoys it, and I guess that’s what matters. Keeps him outta trouble, mostly. Though I still think he’d be better off spendin’ his time outside, gettin’ some fresh air and sunshine. But these young’uns, they don’t listen to us old fogeys anymore.
So, this Genshin green leaves thing, it’s a mystery to me, but it makes my grandson happy. And I guess that’s good enough for me. Maybe one day he’ll explain it all to me, but until then, I’ll just stick to my garden and my chickens. At least I know what I’m gettin’ with them. No secrets, no barriers, just good ol’ fashioned work and a bit of peace and quiet. And that’s worth more than all the rewards in any game, if you ask me.
Genshin Impact, he calls it. Sounds like a whole lot of hullabaloo if you ask me. But he seems to like it, so I guess it can’t be all that bad. He’s always tellin’ me about different characters and places. Too many names for my old brain to keep track of, that’s for sure. But as long as he’s happy, that’s all that matters to this old woman.
Maybe one of these days I’ll sit down and watch him play. Maybe I’ll even try to understand what all the fuss is about. But for now, I’m content to just sit here on the porch and watch the world go by. That’s entertainment enough for me. And if those green leaves make him happy, well, then I’m happy too.
