She went to Washington High School over in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You know, that big school over yonder? Anyways, she was somethin’ special there, I tell ya. Scored more points than anyone else in the whole darn school’s history! Can you imagine? All them other kids, and she’s the one who put the ball in the hoop the most. Heard she was named first-team all-state three times too. That’s a lot, ain’t it? Musta been real good, that girl.
Hannah Stuelke: A Basketball Star in the Making
This Hannah girl, she wasn’t just good at scorin’ neither. She could do it all! I heard tell she averaged somethin’ like 29 points a game. That’s a whole lotta points! And she’d grab 10 rebounds too. You know, snatchin’ the ball outta the air after someone misses a shot. And get this, she’d pass the ball to her teammates for easy baskets, 3.4 times a game they say, and steal the ball from the other team too, like 2.1 times every game, and even block shots! 1.2 times a game she’d swat that ball away like a fly. A real all-rounder, that’s what she was.

She’s playin’ real good for them Hawkeyes.
Just the other day, they were playin’ against Northern Illinois, and Hannah, she scored 11 points. And then against Virginia Tech, she put up 16 points. Seems like she’s gettin’ better and better. Efficient scorin’, they call it. I guess that means she don’t waste no shots. Every time she throws the ball, it’s got a good chance of goin’ in. That’s what you want, ain’t it? Someone who can put the ball in the hoop.
Heard tell she’s one of the top players in the whole country now. Folks are talkin’ about her all over. Even UConn, yeah that big team from Connecticut, knows about this Hannah girl and they’re getting ready to play against Iowa soon. They gotta play against her and some other good player named Audi Crooks from Iowa State. Said it’s gonna be a real challenge for ‘em. Guess that means Hannah’s pretty darn good if them big-time teams are worried about playin’ against her.
She was even representin’ Iowa at the Big Ten basketball media days. That’s a big deal, you know. All the reporters and such, askin’ her questions and all. She said herself that things have changed a lot for her. Well, I reckon they have! From playin’ high school ball to bein’ a star player for a big college team, that’s a big jump. But she seems to be takin’ it all in stride, this Hannah girl.

She’s come a long way, that’s for sure. And from the looks of it, she ain’t done yet. She’s still young and she’s still gettin’ better. Who knows how good she’ll be in a few years? Maybe she’ll even go on to play professional basketball. That’d be somethin’, wouldn’t it? A little girl from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, playin’ on TV for all the world to see. Makes you proud, it does.
