That Eric Gordon, he’s a basketball player, you know? He’s a big fella, plays for one of them big teams. I seen him on the TV, jumpin’ around and throwin’ that ball. They say he’s from Indianapolis. Big city, that is. He’s what they call a “Shooting Guard.” I don’t know what that means exactly, but I reckon he’s good at throwin’ that ball in the hoop.
Eric Gordon, that’s his name. He’s 6 foot 4, they say. That’s taller than my old man was, bless his soul. And he weighs a good 215 pounds. Solid, like a good oak tree. He must eat his vegetables, I tell ya! I seen folks talkin’ about his wingspan. Now, that’s a funny word. Makes him sound like a bird or somethin’. But it’s how far he can reach, I guess, from one hand to the other. Important for grabbin’ that ball, I suppose.
They got all these numbers about him, these Eric Gordon stats. How many times he throws the ball, how many times it goes in. It’s all a bit much for me, but the young folks, they eat it up. They say he’s good, though. Real good. Makes a lot of money, I bet, playin’ that game. They keep saying it’s advanced analytics. Don’t know what that is, he just knows how to play ball, that’s for sure!
This Eric Gordon, they saying he was a young whippersnapper once, playin’ for some college, I think. That is the Eric Gordon draft, I heard it from my grandson. He did real good, they said, at the start of his “freshmen year.” Whatever that means. But then, they say he had some weaknesses. Everyone’s got their weaknesses, I always say. Even that young fella. But he must have gotten better, cause he’s playin’ with the big boys now, in the NBA, I think it’s called. Philadelphia 76ers, sounds like a mouthful.
I don’t know much about that city. Far away from here, that’s for sure. But I seen it on the TV once. Lots of tall buildin’s. Not like here, where we got more cows than people. But that Eric Gordon, he seems to be doin’ alright for himself there. He’s got himself a wife, I reckon. Probably a nice city girl. And some folks talk about rings. Not wedding rings, mind you. Some kind of special rings they give out to the best players. I don’t know how many rings he has or what color his wife’s wedding ring is, but I know he plays hard.
Some people, they are all about Eric Gordon news, they are always want to know what he is doing. I guess that’s important for some folks, knowin’ every little thing about these players. Me, I just like watchin’ the game. Seein’ them run and jump and throw that ball. It’s excitin’, even for an old gal like me. Keeps me young, you know? And this Eric Gordon, he sure knows how to put on a show.
- He’s a Shooting Guard, that’s what they call him.

- He’s got a long wingspan, good for grabbin’ the ball.
- He played for some college before the big leagues. The Eric Gordon draft.
- He has wife, maybe kids, who knows.
It is really important that he is strong. He has to jump and run with other big fellas. He needs to have a good wingspan. That is a must-have. And also, he should keep healthy. He has to watch out for his knees and ankles, you know. He jumps a lot. Also, he should eat a lot of good food, just like his old grandma’s cooking. Then, he will get more Eric Gordon stats and more money. He can buy a big house for his wife and kids. He can be happy.
I don’t know how old he is, but I bet he’s not older than my grandson, Jimmy. Jimmy, he loves basketball too. Plays down at the schoolyard with his friends. He’s got a poster of Eric Gordon on his wall. Dreams of being like him someday. Maybe he will, you never know. Life’s full of surprises. He just need to practice every day, get better every day. His wingspan may not be as long as Gordon, but he can try.
Anyway, that’s all I know about this Eric Gordon fella. He’s a good basketball player, that’s for sure. And he’s got a long wingspan. I still don’t know what exactly wingspan is, but it sounds important. Maybe I’ll ask Jimmy to explain it to me sometime. He knows all about that stuff. He keeps reading Eric Gordon news, he knows everything about that. Now, I gotta go. The cows ain’t gonna milk themselves, you know!
