You ask me, does NFL players wear cups? Aiya, those big boys on TV, running and bumping, it’s rough! My grandson, he plays that football thing, not the big time like on TV, but still. He’s a good boy. He says, “Grandma, it hurts when you get hit there.” I tell him, “Wear a cup, then!” He says they don’t. Those NFL players, they are something else.
Those fellas, they run fast, they hit hard. You’d think they’d want to protect everything, right? But I heard some don’t wear no cups. NFL players don’t wear cups, some of them, they say. Can you believe that? They say it slows them down. Crazy, right? Better slow than sorry, I always say. I remember one time, Old Man Johnson’s bull got loose… well, that’s another story. But let me tell you, that bull, he didn’t care about no slow.
Now, my eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I see them on that TV. They wear those tight pants, and all that padding. Shoulders, hips, everything’s padded up. But down there, where it really matters, maybe nothing! Some NFL players, they’re tough cookies, that’s for sure. They take a hit and get right back up.
- Some big shot player, what’s his name, Kevin something, he played a long time. He said he never wore a cup.
- Never knew nobody on his teams who did neither.
- Landry, Spence, big names, they like that cupping thing but not wearing cups, seems like.
- Other players like that McCaffery and Ekeler, they say it’s about being comfy.
I guess when you’re that big and strong, maybe you think you’re invincible. But I tell ya, even the strongest tree can fall. One good hit in the wrong spot… oof. It makes me hurt just thinking about it. I remember when my Jimmy, bless his soul, he got kicked by a mule once. Right in the… well, you know. He was walking funny for a week!
Football players wear cups, some do. Some don’t. That’s their choice. A lot of those young fellas feel like they can run faster, jump higher without them cups on. Says it gets in the way. They’re all about speed, those players. Speed and power. They say that cup makes ’em feel clunky. Like they got a load in their pants, I reckon.
But me? I’d rather be safe than sorry. I mean, what’s a little clunkiness compared to, well, you know… It’s a risky game, that football. Lots of pushing and shoving. And those helmets! They use them like battering rams. They run at each other so fast, like those rams in the pasture, fighting over a lady sheep.
Some say it’s a debate, a big discussion whether they should wear them or not. Some say, that’s a high-impact sport, that football. Lots of folks wonder if football players wear cups. I mean, you got these big fellas running full speed, crashing into each other. Bound to be some accidents, right?.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this football stuff. I just watch it on the TV sometimes. But it seems to me like a no-brainer. Protect yourself, boys! That’s what I say. A little protection goes a long way. Like when you’re canning peaches, you gotta use those rubber seals, keep the bad stuff out.
Those NFL players, they make a lot of money, don’t they? Millions, I hear. You’d think they could afford the best protection money can buy. But I guess it’s more complicated than that. They got their reasons, I suppose. Maybe they think they’re too tough. Or maybe they just don’t want to think about it.
I guess it is a personal choice. Like wearing those sports bras or whatever they call it. It is just some kind of vest. Well, that’s just beyond me. You do you I guess. It’s their bodies, their careers. But if you ask me, does NFL players wear cups? I’d say, they should! It just makes sense. But what do I know? I’m just an old lady who likes to watch a little football now and then. It is just so hard to say do they wear cups. No one really knows. It just ain’t my business, I suppose. Better safe than sorry, though. That’s all I’m saying.
