Now, highest vertical jump NBA, that’s what they call it. Means jumpin’ up high, like tryin’ to grab a peach off the highest branch. These boys, they jump higher than a scared cat, I tell ya. They fly in the air like some birds.
That one fella, Michael somethin’. Michael Jordan, they call him. Heard he was the best. Jumped 48 inches, whatever that means. Must be a whole lotta inches. He was like a bird, flyin’ through the air. Best jumper ever, they say. Michael Jordan vertical was something else. Goodness gracious, that boy could jump! Like a dang rabbit!
And then there’s that other one, big fella, Wilt the Stilt. What kinda name is that, anyway? Stilt! Sounds like he’s walkin’ on them long sticks. He could jump real high too, 48 inches they say. He was a big ‘un. Imagine a fella that big jumpin’ that high! Wilt Chamberlain vertical jump was somethin’ to behold!
- Michael Jordan, they say he jump 48 inches.

This jumpin’ thing, they do it in that basketball game. They jump, throw that ball in the hoop. I seen it. Lots of jumpin’ and runnin’. And they get paid good money for it too, imagine that! More money than I ever seen in my whole life, and I’ve seen a lot of years, you know.
They got a new one now, Keon somethin’, Keon Johnson. Another one that jumps all over the place. Keon Johnson vertical is 48 inches, same as them other two. These youngsters and their jumpin’! They say he got the record. Jump higher than anybody before. Good for him, I guess. He is one of the highest vertical jump in NBA players. He is a good jumper.
Back in my day, we jumped to get over a fence, or maybe to reach that apple on the top branch. Nobody measured it. Didn’t need to. Just needed to get over that fence or get that apple, that’s all. Jumpin’ was for gettin’ things done, not for showin’ off. These NBA fellas, they make a big deal out of it. That is what NBA is now.
There’s another young fella, Dennis somethin’. Dennis Smith Jr. He jumps real good too. 48 inches. Land sakes, that’s a lot of inches! He is a good jumper. Dennis Smith Jr vertical is very good. He is very good when he was a rookie.
Now, that Zion fella, he’s a big boy. When he jumps, look out! He’s like a bull jumpin’ in the china shop. Zion’s vertical jump is somethin’ to see, that’s for sure. He is so strong. So much power.
They even got a name for it now, “vertical leap.” Fancy words for jumpin’ high. They measure it and everything. Got all kinds of numbers. It’s all very scientific, I suppose. I don’t know about all that. All I know is these boys can sure jump high! Higher than a kite, I tell ya.
In the 80s and 90s, they say there were a lot of good jumpers. NBA history has a lot of good jumpers. That Michael Jordan was one of ’em. They call it the “Era of Exceptional Jumpers.” I reckon that’s about right. They were jumpin’ all over the place back then, like a bunch of grasshoppers. 1980s and 1990s NBA is fun.
This whole jumpin’ thing is a big deal in the NBA. They even have a contest, see who can jump the highest. Like a county fair, ‘cept with jumpin’ instead of pie eatin’. They call it the NBA Draft Combine. That’s where they found that Keon fella, the one who jumps so high. NBA Draft Combine is full of people who can jump high.
Well, I guess that’s all I know about that highest vertical jump NBA. It’s somethin’ to see, these fellas jumpin’ so high. Like they got rockets in their shoes. Makes my old knees ache just watchin’ ’em. But it sure is entertainin’, I’ll give ’em that. These young folks and their jumpin’! It’s a crazy world, I tell ya. A crazy world.
