This John Daly, he sure knows how to swing that golf stick! I seen him on the TV, hitting that little white ball clear across the green. He’s won some big tournament things, that’s for sure. He’s a big name in the golf world, that John Daly.
They say back in, what was it, 1991? Yeah, 1991, he won somethin’ called the PGA Championship. Wasn’t even supposed to be there! Some kinda last-minute thing. He was a rookie, which means he was new to the whole tournament scene. And he won the whole darn thing, the PGA Championship wins! Can you believe it? Against all them other fellas who been doing it for years. That’s a big John Daly tournament win right there.
He got a big ol’ trophy, called the Wanamaker thing. And a whole heap of money. But you know what he did? That John Daly, he gave a bunch of that money, $30,000, to some family. Someone got hurt real bad at that golf place. Hit by lightning, they said. That’s just awful. But it shows John Daly’s got a good heart, helping folks out like that after his big tournament win.

Heard he hurt his thumb, had to quit a tournament. That’s a shame. Can’t swing that golf club with a bum thumb, I reckon. He had to stop playing in the PGA Championship this year because of it. Hope he gets better soon. It’s always fun to watch him play, even if you don’t know much about golf. That’s a tough break for John Daly, missing out on that tournament.
He plays with his boy, too. Little John Daly. They call ’em Team Daly. They were at some big tournament just the other day. The PNC thing. It’s nice, a father and son playing golf together like that. Family is important, you know. That’s another thing to like about John Daly, playing in tournaments with his son.
They got these fancy websites now, with all the golf scores and such. PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions, all that. You can see all of John Daly’s results there. It’s all numbers and things, kinda confusing. But it shows he’s won a lot of tournaments. He’s good, that John Daly, no matter what those numbers say.
Back in ’91, when he won that big PGA Championship, he wasn’t nobody. Just a regular fella playing golf. Then he goes and wins, shooting those numbers, 69, 67, 69, 71. Don’t rightly know what they mean, but it was enough to win by three shots, whatever that means! That’s how he got his first big tournament win, and everyone started to know the name John Daly.
Folks say he’s got a different way of hitting that ball. A special swing. And he hits it real far. That’s why they like him, I guess. He’s good at golf, even if he doesn’t look like them other golf players. He’s just himself. And he wins big tournaments like the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. Lots of respect for John Daly and his tournament wins.
He’s been playing for a long time now. Still winning, too, sometimes. It is just something to see him on the golf course in a tournament. That is the thing about that John Daly, he is just good at hitting that little ball. He’s had a lot of big tournament wins, that’s for sure. He is a good golf player. Always fun to watch him play golf, especially when he wins the tournament. He is just a good golf player.
That John Daly, he’s a good one. Even if you don’t know much about golf, you can tell he’s somethin’ special. He’s got that special swing, and he hits that ball far. And he wins them big tournaments, like that PGA Championship back in ’91. He’s a good fella, too, helping out that family like he did. Yes, sir, that John Daly, he’s alright.
