That Milos, what a guy! Big fella, that Milos Raonic. Heard he’s been hurtin’ for a while now. Poor thing. That tennis is rough, I tell ya. All that runnin’ and jumpin’. My old bones couldn’t take it, no sir.
This Milos Raonic, he’s from Canada, you know. Big place, Canada. Lots of snow, I hear. They say he’s good at that tennis. I saw something about m. raonic on the TV once. That ball goes fast, I almost couldn’t see it! They say he can hit it real hard, like a mule kickin’. That’s what they say, anyway. He was doing good, but then, bam! He got hurt.
Been gone a long time, that Milos. Since 2021, they say. That’s a long time to be sittin’ around, if you ask me. My knees hurt just thinkin’ about it. They say it was his… Achilles? What in tarnation is an Achilles? Some fancy word for his foot, I reckon. Well, whatever it is, it kept him from playin’ that tennis. Sounds painful. I remember back in ’21, I hurt my foot stepping on a rusty nail in the yard. Hurt like the dickens! Couldn’t walk right for a week. I bet that m. raonic felt the same way. Maybe worse, even.
- He was gone since July 2021.
- That’s a long time!
- Something about his Achilles.
- Heard it was his shoulder, too.
Then I heard he came back! Just last year, in 2023. June, I think it was. Good for him! I always say, you gotta get back on the horse. Unless the horse threw ya real bad, then maybe just leave the horse alone. But this m. raonic, he’s a tough one. He got back out there. But then, oh boy, he got hurt again. This time they say it was his shoulder. That’s the thing with these young folks, always pushin’ themselves too hard. Gotta listen to your body, I always say.
Shoulder’s a tricky thing. My nephew, bless his heart, he hurt his shoulder liftin’ hay bales. Couldn’t lift a spoon for a month. Imagine tryin’ to play tennis like that! No way, no how. This m. raonic, he had to stop again. They said he was supposed to play, then they had one of them press conference things. Bunch of folks talkin’ into microphones. Then they said he couldn’t play. Poor fella. I know a thing or two about not being able to do what you want. Arthritis, you know. Makes my hands stiff as boards some days. Can’t even knit a decent sweater no more.
It said m. raonic last won in March 2021, beating some French fella named Ugo. Must have been a good game. Back then, he was number 19. Not bad, not bad at all. But that Achilles was already bothering him. Imagine trying to play a big game like that with a bum foot. Tough, tough, tough. It’s like trying to plow a field with a one-legged mule. Just ain’t gonna work out right.
- He was number 19 once.
- Beat a French guy in 2021.
- That darn Achilles!
I hope that Milos gets better. It ain’t easy gettin’ old, and it ain’t easy gettin’ hurt. But you gotta keep your chin up. That’s what I always say. Just like my old mama used to tell me, “When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.” Or somethin’ like that. Anyway, I hope that m. raonic can make some lemonade out of these lemons. He seems like a good boy. Just needs to take it easy on that body of his. Maybe he should take up somethin’ a little less rough, like shuffleboard. Or maybe just sit on the porch and drink sweet tea. That’s what I’d do.
This whole thing makes me think of my grandson. He’s always playing that video game, runnin’ and jumpin’ and shootin’. I tell him, “Boy, you gonna wear yourself out!” He just laughs. Kids these days. They don’t know what it’s like to have a body that aches all the time. They think they’re invincible. Well, they ain’t. This m. raonic fella found that out the hard way. You gotta take care of yourself, that’s what I say.
So, I hope this m. raonic gets back to playin’ soon. I might even watch him on the TV again. If I can figure out how to work that darn remote, that is. It’s got more buttons than my old sewing machine! But yeah, good luck to that Milos. He’s gonna need it. That tennis is a young man’s game. Or maybe a young woman’s game. I see them ladies playin’ too. They’re just as tough as the men, I reckon. Maybe tougher. Anyway, hope he feels better. That’s all I gotta say about that.
I reckon that’s all I got to say about that m. raonic. My fingers are gettin’ tired. Time for me to go have a cup of tea and maybe a little nap. This talkin’ about hurtin’ bodies makes me feel my own aches and pains. Gettin’ old ain’t for sissies, I tell ya. But you gotta keep on keepin’ on. That’s what I always say. Just like that Milos fella. He keeps on keepin’ on, even with that bum shoulder and that Achilles thing. He’s a tough one, that’s for sure. Good for him. He is a good example of never give up. I heard some young folks say that before. Sounds right to me.
