Well, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout this Eric Cole, the golfer fella. I thought I should tell ya what I know about him. Seems like he’s been playin’ golf for a long, long time.
This Eric Cole, he’s a golfer, you see. Plays that game with the sticks and the little white ball. He’s been doin’ it for years, since way back in 2009. They say he turned, what’s the word, “pro-fessional”. That means he gets paid for playin’. Imagine that! I heard he won somethin’ called the PGA tour rookie of the year award. He must be pretty good to win that, I reckon. He was old when he got it too, not like these young whippersnappers.
He’s won a whole bunch of those little games they play, 56 of them, on somethin’ they call the Minor League Golf Tour. I don’t know much about it, but 56 sounds like a heap of wins to me! He even won their big one, the championship, couple of times, in 2009 and 2021. That’s a long time to be playin’, ain’t it?
They say he’s gonna play in somethin’ called the Masters this year. Sounds fancy. Must be a big deal, ’cause I hear folks talkin’ about it. He’s been playin’ pretty good in 2024. He almost won, but he’s been doin’ good. Finished in the top 10, they say. That’s mighty fine, if you ask me.
He started playin’ when he was young. When he was just 14, he was friends with a fella named Sam Saunders. And this Sam’s grandpappy was a big-shot golfer, Arnold Palmer. They all played together, even that old Mr. Palmer. I hear they played at fancy places, Bay Hill and Latrobe. Sounds real nice.
Now, this Eric Cole, he’s got a whole bag full of those golf sticks. They call ’em clubs. He’s got a driver, that’s the big one they use to hit the ball far. And a 3-wood, and a 5-wood. I don’t know what those are, but they sound important. He’s also got irons, a whole bunch of them, and wedges, and a putter. That’s the one they use to tap the ball in the hole at the end. He uses a white ball, a Titleist, I think they call it.
- He’s got a PXG driver.
- He’s got a TaylorMade 3-wood.
- He’s got a PXG 5-wood.
- He’s got a bunch of PXG irons.
- He’s got Titleist wedges.
- He’s got a PXG putter.
- He uses a Titleist Pro V1x ball.
I heard folks sayin’ his secret is that he’s been playin’ so long. He’s got that, what do they call it, “competitive edge.” Means he really wants to win, I guess. He turned pro in 2009, that’s a long time ago!
He’s not a young fella anymore, this Eric Cole. He’s 35, I heard. They call him a “journeyman,” which I reckon means he’s been around the block a few times. He’s tough, though. You gotta be tough to play this game for so long. I hear he was even teachin’ for a little while. Now he’s a big shot, playin’ on the PGA Tour.
He shot some real low numbers in some of those games, 62 and 67. That’s good, right? Sounds good to me. He won that one, his 58th win on that Minor League thing. He sure does like to win, that Eric Cole.
So, this Eric Cole golfer, he’s somethin’ else. Been playin’ forever, winnin’ a bunch, playin’ with the big shots. He’s a real golfer, that one. You keep an eye on him, he might just win somethin’ big one of these days. He seems to be pretty good at that golf game. I don’t know much about that game but he seems to be good at it.
I heard he just won somethin’ called PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. He waited a long time to win that. He must be happy. I would be happy to win somethin’ like that. It’s a big deal, I reckon. He must have played real good to win that. I don’t know how they decide who wins, but he must have been the best rookie.
I heard he almost didn’t make it playin’ golf. He was teachin’ for a bit. But he kept at it and now he’s on the PGA Tour. That’s a big deal. He must have worked real hard to get there. He had to try and try. Now he is there. Good for him.
