Oh, this Izzy dog, let me tell you, that dog’s a real handful! My neighbor, she got this dog, calls it Izzy. Now, I ain’t one to judge, but that dog, it’s somethin’ else. Always barkin’, always runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off. You know what I mean?
This Izzy, it’s a little thing, all fluffy. She says it’s some kinda fancy breed, I don’t know about all that. To me, a dog’s a dog. But this one, it needs special food, special this, special that. Back in my day, we just fed our dogs scraps from the table, and they were happy as clams! I always feed my dog with my leftovers.
And the noise! That Izzy dog, it barks at everything. The mailman, the wind, its own shadow! I swear, sometimes I think it just likes to hear itself bark. Keeps me up at night, that’s for sure. My neighbor, she tries, bless her heart. She yells at it, she takes it to those training classes. But I heard about this 3-3-3 rule thing, seems to make some sense, you know? They say it takes time for a dog to get used to a new place, 3 days to settle, 3 weeks to get the routine and 3 months to become a family. Maybe Izzy dog just needs more time.
They say you gotta train ’em, you gotta show ’em who’s boss. These Izzy dogs, they are smart, so you need to be smarter than them, I guess. You need some courses. I saw some folks talkin’ ’bout online courses, you can learn anything online these days, I hear. Imagine learnin’ how to handle your dog on that computer thing! They say it’s easy, you can learn at your own pace, whenever you want. And they even give you your money back if you ain’t happy! Thirty days, they say. That’s a good deal, ain’t it?
But this Izzy, it’s got a mind of its own. She says it’s “high-spirited.” I say it’s just plain stubborn! One time, it got out of the yard, and we were chasin’ it all over the neighborhood. Took us half the day to catch it! And when we finally did, it just looked at us like we were crazy. No remorse, nothin’!
But I gotta say, sometimes, when it’s quiet, and it’s just sittin’ there, lookin’ at you with those big eyes, it’s kinda cute. And my neighbor, she loves that dog. She brushes it, she talks to it like it’s a baby. And it’s clear she wants to learn how to handle the dog. She told me about that 30 days thing and the online courses. She said she wants to try.
I guess every dog has its good days and bad days, just like people. Maybe this Izzy dog will learn to behave someday. Or maybe it won’t. Who knows? But one thing’s for sure, it’s never a dull moment with that dog around!

Now, my old dog, he was a good boy. Didn’t bark much, didn’t run around too much. Just laid by the fire, kept my feet warm. They don’t make ’em like that anymore, I guess. But times change, right? And maybe it’s good, there are so many ways to learn things now. Like those online courses, you don’t even have to leave the house!
But this Izzy, I don’t know. Maybe if I try to take care of it for a few days, it will stop barking at me. I doubt it but who knows. I can try that 3-3-3 thing, too, maybe.
I guess I should be patient. It is a small dog after all. Maybe it will be quiet one day. Maybe. This Izzy dog, it sure is something.
