Oh, my stars, did you see that boy, Mac McClung, at the NBA Dunk Contest? That young fella can really fly! He just went up there and did things with a basketball I ain’t never seen before. Lord have mercy, that boy’s got some bounce in his shoes.
He was jumpin’ over folks, twistin’ around like a top, and slammin’ that ball through the hoop. Mac McClung dunking was a sight to behold, I tell ya. That boy, he made it look so easy. Like he was just hoppin’ over a puddle or somethin’.

I heard some folks callin’ it the Mac McClung Dunking Show. And, well, they ain’t wrong. That boy put on a show, alright. He won that whole dunk contest, and I reckon he deserved it. He was the best one out there, no doubt about it.
- First dunk, he jumped over somebody.
- Second dunk, he twisted around like a tornado.
- Third dunk, lawd, I don’t even know how to say it. He was just up in the air forever!
- That last one, though, that’s the one that got everyone hollerin’. Mac McClung 720 dunk they called it, he spun around twice in the air!
This Mac McClung, he’s somethin’ else. I remember when folks used to say Michael Jordan was the best at dunkin’. Well, this boy might just give him a run for his money. You can’t teach that kind of jumpin’. He’s got springs in his legs, I reckon.
And the way he was movin’, it was like watchin’ a movie or somethin’. Mac McClung NBA future is bright, oh, I know that for sure now. He got $100,000, they say, and I reckon he can buy himself somethin’ nice with that.
Mac McClung Dunk Contest Winner
Folks are sayin’ Mac McClung dunk contest winner is what they are callin’ him now. They are sayin’ he saved the whole thing. I don’t know about all that, but he sure was fun to watch. He was all over my TV screen, jumpin’ and dunkin’. Made my old heart skip a beat, I tell ya.
They say he was playin’ for some team that ain’t even in the big leagues. But after that dunk contest, everybody knows his name now. Mac McClung highlights are all over the place. You can’t turn on the TV without seein’ that boy fly.
I heard he even got a deal with that shoe company, Puma. Good for him, I say. He earned it. That boy worked hard, you can tell. He didn’t just get those hops overnight, I know that.
And his family, oh, they must be so proud. His mama and daddy, they were probably hoppin’ up and down just like him. I bet they were more excited than he was. I know I would be. My grandson, winnin’ a big NBA dunk contest? I’d be tellin’ everyone I know, just like I’m doin’ now.

That Mac McClung 720 dunk, though, that was somethin’. I ain’t never seen nothin’ like that before. He was just spinnin’ and spinnin’ in the air. Like a little whirligig. I thought he was gonna fly away!
They say nobody in the NBA has ever done that before in a contest. Well, that Mac McClung, he’s a first, alright. He’s gonna be famous, that boy. You just wait and see. He’s gonna be bigger than a buttered biscuit at a church social.
I hope he remembers where he came from, though. All this fame and fortune can go to a young fella’s head. But he seems like a good boy. I hope he stays that way. And I hope he keeps on dunkin’. ‘Cause I sure do love watchin’ him fly. Mac McClung dunking is like nothin’ else I’ve ever seen. It makes you feel like anything is possible.
That’s what I like about it. It’s like a little bit of magic. You watch that boy jump, and you think, “Well, maybe I can do somethin’ special, too.” Even an old lady like me can dream, can’t she? Mac McClung, he made me a believer, that’s for sure. And I reckon he made a believer out of a whole lot of other folks, too.
