Okay, let’s talk about my bag today. You know, it’s been a while since I last did a WITB update, so I thought, why not? Let’s dive into what I’ve been carrying around the course lately.
First off, my wedges. Man, I’ve been experimenting a lot with these. I saw Bryson DeChambeau using a 60-degree lob wedge and it got me thinking. I mean, if it works for him, right? So, I picked up a 60-degree myself, along with a 56-degree sand wedge. But here’s the kicker – I had that 56 bent to 55. Just a little tweak, you know? Then, I’ve got a 50-degree gap wedge and a 45-degree pitching wedge. All of them are Ping Glide 4.0. They feel great, super responsive. But wait, there’s more! I also added another pitching wedge that matches my 3D-printed Avoda iron set, and that one’s got 40 degrees of loft. A bit unconventional, maybe, but it works for me.
Moving on to irons, it’s all about finding what fits your body and swing. I’m not the tallest guy out there, so I lean towards shorter irons. It’s like, if you’re taller, you’d probably want longer irons that sit more upright, right? Makes sense. But for me, shorter irons just feel right. I went with a mix of Takomo models. There is the 101U for my 4-iron, a 101T for the 5-iron, and then 301 CBs from 6-iron down to 9-iron. And the shafts? True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100s. That setup gives me a good balance of forgiveness and the ability to work the ball.
Now, I saw Vijay Singh‘s bag at the PNC Championship. I tried to copy that. He’s got a Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond driver at 8 degrees. I don’t have that exact one, but I’ve got something similar in my bag. I messed around with a few different drivers, and honestly, it’s all about what feels good in your hands and gives you that confidence off the tee.
So yeah, that’s pretty much my setup right now. It’s a mix of different things I’ve seen, tried, and liked. Golf’s all about experimenting and finding what works best for you, isn’t it? And who knows, maybe in a few months, I’ll be sharing another update because I stumbled upon something new that caught my eye. That’s the fun of it, right?
