Okay, so, today I wanna talk about Cooper Rush’s contract. I’ve been digging into this for a while, and here’s what I found.
First off, I went online and started searching. It was kind of a mess, with lots of different numbers thrown around. But I kept at it, and here’s the gist of what I found out.
The First Contract
Back in 2021 or so, Cooper Rush signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys. It wasn’t his first contract, I think, but it’s the one I started with in my research. This first contract I looked at was for two years. The total was something like $1,955,000. If you do the math, that averages out to around $977,500 a year.
- Duration: 2 years
- Total Value: $1,955,000
- Average Annual Salary: $977,500
Not a bad deal, right? But there was nothing about any guaranteed money there. It’s possible it was not his first contract.
The New Deal
Then, before the 2023 season started, Rush signed a new contract with the Cowboys. I had to piece together information from different websites, but it seems like it was another two-year deal. This time, it was worth a cool $5 million. That’s a big jump from his previous contract!
From what I could gather, his base salary for this season (2024) is $2.25 million. That also means his “cap hit” for the team is $2.875 million. I’m not sure I understand that very well, but it must have something to do with the team’s overall salary limits. Also, I saw something about him getting a $1.25 million signing bonus. Nice!

- Total Value: $5,000,000
- Base Salary (2024): $2.25 million
- Signing Bonus: $1.25 million
Some Other Details
I also stumbled upon some info about a time when the Cowboys released Rush, and then he was picked up by the Giants. Apparently, the Giants and Rush worked out a contract for about $1.25 million for that season. I guess things didn’t work out because he ended up back with the Cowboys.
Comparing to Another Player
Just for fun, I looked up another player’s contract, Amari Cooper. He also played for the Cowboys. His contract was way bigger! Five years, $100 million. That’s like $20 million a year. But, you know, he’s a big-name wide receiver, so it makes sense.
So, there you have it. That’s what I learned about Cooper Rush’s contract situation. It took some digging, and I’m not sure if I got everything right, but I tried my best to piece it all together. Hope this was helpful!
