Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of checking out all the dome collegiate stadiums for D1 football. It’s been quite a journey, let me tell you.
I started by making a list of all the stadiums that are either domes or have some kind of roof. I mean, who wants to sit in the rain or snow, right? Turns out, there are about 10 of these bad boys out of the 30 total stadiums. Not a huge number, but enough to keep me busy.
Then, I dug into some stats about how tough it is to actually get a spot on a D1 football team. Apparently, only about 7.5% of high school players make it to the college level. That’s insane! It really puts into perspective how elite these athletes are.
- First, I looked up which stadiums are indoors.
- Then, I checked out the odds of making a D1 team.
- After that, I planned my visits to these stadiums.
I decided to plan my trips around some big games. Like that one time, I saw Indiana play Notre Dame. It was a killer game, even though Indiana was the underdog. It was just cool to be there, you know?
The Trip to Notre Dame
Driving up to Notre Dame was an experience in itself. It’s a beautiful campus, and the stadium is massive. The energy there was just electric. Everyone was so hyped for the game.
I also read up on some other stuff, like the redevelopment of Kyle Field. They poured almost half a billion dollars into it! Now it seats over 100,000 people. Can you imagine the roar of that crowd?
But it wasn’t just about the big, famous stadiums. I learned about how EA Sports missed out on including the Ching Complex in their game because of some communication issues. It’s these little stories that make the whole thing interesting.
This whole project has been a blast. It’s not just about the football, but also about the places and the people. And yeah, sitting in a comfy, climate-controlled dome is a pretty sweet deal too!
So, that’s my little adventure with dome collegiate stadiums. It’s been fun, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. Maybe I’ll even write a book about it someday, who knows?
Anyway if you are interested in dome collegiate stadiums, just do it! It is an unforgetable experience.
