Hey guys, it’s your boy back again with another blog post. Today, I’m diving into a dilemma that I faced this past week: Higbee or Goedert? Yeah, it’s a fantasy football thing, but it had me scratching my head for a good while, and I figured some of you might relate or at least find it interesting.
So, picture this: it was the day before Week 13’s games, and I was tinkering with my fantasy lineup as usual. I had both Tyler Higbee and Dallas Goedert on my roster, both solid tight ends, but I could only start one. I started digging around, looking for any edge I could get.
First, I opened up a bunch of different fantasy football advice sites. I was really just trying to get a feel for what the so-called “experts” were saying. Most of them had these fancy tools where you could type in the player names, and bam, it would spit out an answer based on stats and projections.
- I tried a few of those tools, you know, just to see what they’d say.
- Entered “Higbee” and “Goedert” into the first one, hit enter, and waited.
- It gave me a pretty detailed breakdown, with percentages and everything. I remember it favored Goedert, but it wasn’t a landslide.
I moved on to another site, repeated the process. This one also leaned towards Goedert, but its reasoning was slightly different. It talked about matchups and recent performance trends.
After hitting up about five or six of these sites, I started to notice a pattern. Most of them were leaning towards Goedert, but not overwhelmingly. It was like a 60/40 split in his favor. This made things even trickier because I’ve always been a bit of a contrarian. When everyone says go right, I start thinking, “Hmm, maybe I should go left?”
I took a break from the computer and started pacing around my living room, which is my usual thinking spot. I remembered Goedert had a couple of really good games recently, but Higbee had been more consistent throughout the season. My gut was telling me to stick with Higbee’s consistency, but all that data was making me doubt myself.
So, I went back to the stats. I pulled up their season averages, their last three games, even their performance against similar defenses. I wrote down some notes on a piece of scrap paper, trying to make sense of it all.
Then, I did something I hadn’t done initially. I checked out the injury reports. It turned out that the Eagles’ defense, who Goedert would be facing, had some key players out. This was a big deal! It meant Goedert might have an easier time getting open and making plays. That’s when I finally decided to trust all the tools and experts and go with Goedert.
The games started, and I was glued to the TV. Goedert ended up having a decent game. He didn’t go off for like 20 points or anything, but he got me a solid 12, which was more than Higbee’s 8 points that week. It wasn’t a huge difference, but it was enough to make me feel like I made the right call. It is a close call, but thankfully I made the right decision.
This whole experience taught me a few things: One, sometimes it’s good to listen to the data, even if your gut is saying something else. Two, always check the injury reports! And three, fantasy football is way more unpredictable than you’d think.
Anyway, that’s my Higbee vs. Goedert story. Hope you guys found it somewhat entertaining. Let me know in the comments who you would’ve started and if you’ve ever had a similar dilemma. Catch you in the next post!
