Hey guys, so I’ve been messing around with this “Sub Crossword” thing lately, and I thought I’d share my experience with y’all. It’s been quite a ride, let me tell you.
It all started a couple of weeks ago when I stumbled upon this crossword puzzle in the New York Times. The clue was simply “Sub,” and I was like, “Alright, let’s see what this is all about.” I’m not really a crossword fanatic but a puzzle is a puzzle, you know?
Starting the Puzzle
First thing I did was grab a pen and paper, old-school style. I started filling in the letters I already knew from other clues, just to get a feel for it. Then, I began brainstorming all the possible words that could fit the “Sub” clue. And there were a lot of them. Some with only 3 letters, some with more.
I spent a good amount of time trying out different combinations, erasing, and starting over. This went on for a few days. Honestly, it was a bit frustrating at times, but I was determined to crack it. I even tried to find similar puzzles online to learn from them, but all I found was that this “Sub” clue had shown up more than 20 times! Can you believe it?
Digging Deeper
After a few more tries, I started noticing some patterns. I realized that some words kept popping up in different crossword puzzles I looked at. Words like “HERO,” “TEMP,” “HOAGIE,” and “STANDIN” seemed to be common answers. I mean, these crosswords aren’t a walk in the park. They say the Saturday one is the toughest of the week, with all sorts of tricky clues and wordplay.
So, I listed these words down and started trying them out one by one. Each time I thought I had it, another clue wouldn’t fit. It was like a never-ending loop. But, I kept at it. I’d take breaks, do something else, and then come back to it with fresh eyes. It was a real test of patience.
Finally Getting it
Finally, after what felt like forever, I managed to fit in all the words correctly. It was such a relief! I double-checked every clue, made sure everything aligned, and there it was, the completed puzzle. I gotta say, it was a pretty satisfying moment. I felt like I had accomplished something big, even though it was just a crossword puzzle.
Looking Back
Looking back, it was a fun and challenging experience. I learned a lot about crossword puzzles, different words, and even a bit about myself and how much patience I actually have. I found out that there were over 30 or even 40 possible answers for this “Sub” clue. I had to keep changing the words I thought were right. It was a real headache sometimes!
So yeah, that’s my story about tackling the “Sub Crossword” clue. It might seem like a small thing, but it was a great way to kill some time and give my brain a good workout. If you’re into puzzles, I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot. Just be prepared for a bit of a challenge!
Hope you enjoyed hearing about my little adventure. Let me know if you’ve had similar experiences or if you have any tips for a crossword newbie like me. Cheers!
