Okay, so, I’ve been trying to keep up with the Cape Cod Baseball League standings, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a ride. First, I started digging around for information about the league itself. Turns out, this league is a pretty big deal for college players in the summer. A ton of them end up going pro, which is wild!
I learned that the league officially kicked off back in 1923, but apparently, it has roots dating back to 1885. They’re serious about their baseball down on Cape Cod. Getting into this league is no joke. Players have to be recommended by their college coaches and they can’t have signed with another summer league.
Finding the Standings
After I got a handle on the league’s background, I went on a hunt for the current standings. I found some articles talking about power rankings. One of them mentioned the Hyannis Harbor Hawks being at the top, and another talked about the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox leading the East Division.
Compiling the Information
- I started to compile whatever stats I could find, but it wasn’t as straightforward as I hoped. Some sites just gave me wins, losses, and ties for each team. I saw mentions of stats for the 2021 season, and even some playoff standings from that year. It felt like I was piecing together a puzzle.
- I noticed that the Harwich Mariners were mentioned a few times, even though they didn’t seem to be doing so hot this season. They were described as having an “unreal rollercoaster” of a season, which I thought was pretty funny.
So, I’m still working on getting a complete and up-to-date picture of the Cape League standings. It hasn’t been the easiest thing to track down, but I’m determined to figure it out. It seems like the data is scattered across a few different places, and some of it might be a bit outdated. I guess that’s just how it goes sometimes when you’re following this stuff!
