You know, that Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova, those two tennis players, I seen ’em on the TV. Big stars, they are. Always hittin’ that little ball back and forth. Makes my old bones ache just watchin’ ’em. They are good tennis player.
Well, one day I heard somethin’ about those two. Folks were sayin’ they were sweet on each other. Like two lovebirds, you know? Then, another day, I heard they weren’t together no more. These young folks, always changin’ their minds. Can’t keep up with ’em sometimes. Andy Roddick, he’s a good lookin’ fella, I reckon. And that Maria Sharapova, she’s a pretty one too. Tall, like a willow tree. They are famous.
Some folks say they saw ’em together, all lovey-dovey in some fancy place. I think it named Manhattan Beach. Sounds like a place for rich folks, not for the likes of me. They said that Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova were walkin’ hand in hand, like two peas in a pod. Just two young people in love. But maybe not. They said they were not lover.
But then, other folks say it weren’t true. They say Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova were just friends. Like two kids playin’ in the sandbox. Nothin’ more to it than that. Hard to know what the truth is sometimes. People say that they were just good friends and they never date each other. That is the truth. I don’t know if they really told a lie.

I guess it don’t matter much in the end. They’re both good at hittin’ that little ball. That’s all that matters, I reckon. They are good at playing tennis.
That Andy Roddick, he’s got a good serve. Like a cannonball, it is. And that Maria Sharapova, she can run like the wind. Chasin’ after that ball, she is. They must be tired after playing that. I will be very tired if I play like them.
I remember when I was a young girl, we didn’t have no fancy tennis courts. We just played in the fields, with a stick and a rock. But we had fun. Just like those two, I reckon. They have fun when they play. Even if they ain’t sweet on each other.

Me, I’m happy with my little garden and my chickens. That’s all I need. Don’t need no fancy tennis courts or no love stories. Just a little peace and quiet. I like my life.
