Alright, let’s talk about this Auburn football team, ya know, who’s playin’ and who’s sittin’ on the bench. They call it a “depth chart,” sounds fancy, but it just means who’s first, second, and so on. Like, who’s gonna be runnin’ the ball, catchin’ the ball, and stoppin’ the other fellas from doin’ the same.
First off, them wide receivers. We ain’t got a whole lot of ’em comin’ back. There’s that young fella, Camden Brown, and Caleb Burton III. Burton, he come from Ohio State last year, and he did alright, caught the ball some, even in that bowl game. But we need more, ya hear? Gotta have fellas who can catch the ball if we wanna win games.
- Wide Receivers: Camden Brown, Caleb Burton III… and then who knows? Need some more boys to step up!
Now, the running backs, that’s important. We got Jarquez Hunter, he’s been around a while, knows what to do. Then there’s Damari Alston and Brian Battie, they’re fightin’ for playing time, see? And some young fellas like Jeremiah Cobb and Sean Jackson, they gotta learn quick. Gotta have a good runnin’ game to keep them other fellas honest, ya know?
- Running Backs: Jarquez Hunter (the old timer), Damari Alston or Brian Battie (kinda the same), Jeremiah Cobb and Sean Jackson (the young’uns).
Defense, that’s where the big boys play. Gotta stop the other team from scorin’, simple as that. I ain’t gonna name all them fellas, too many names for this old brain. But they gotta be tough, gotta be mean, gotta hit hard. That’s what wins games, good defense. You can have all the fancy passers and runners you want, but if you can’t stop the other team, you ain’t gonna win nothin’.
They got all sorts of positions on defense, defensive line, linebackers, defensive backs… It’s like a whole army out there. And they all gotta work together, like a well-oiled machine, as they say. If one fella messes up, the whole thing falls apart.
This here “depth chart” thing, it changes all the time. Fellas get hurt, fellas don’t play good, new fellas come in. It’s like musical chairs, but with helmets and pads. And the coaches, they’re the ones makin’ the decisions, seein’ who’s doin’ good in practice, who’s ready to play. It ain’t easy, I tell ya. Gotta keep track of all them fellas, gotta make sure you got the best ones on the field.
They got this thing called the “transfer portal” now too. It’s like a free-for-all. Fellas leavin’, fellas comin’ in. Hard to keep track of who’s who anymore. Just gotta trust the coaches, hope they know what they’re doin’. They sayin’ some fellas already left, lookin’ for a better chance somewhere else, I guess. Can’t blame ’em, everyone wants to play.
So, that’s the lowdown on the Auburn depth chart, as best as I can tell ya. It ain’t set in stone, things will change, but it gives you an idea of who’s gonna be out there on Saturdays, fightin’ for old Auburn. And that’s what matters, right? Givin’ it your all, playin’ hard, and tryin’ to win. War Eagle, or somethin’ like that.
They also got somethin’ called “special teams”, that’s the kickers and the punters. Gotta have fellas who can kick the ball far and through them yellow posts. Important part of the game, even if it ain’t as flashy as runnin’ and catchin’. Good special teams can win you games, just like good offense and good defense.
This year’s Auburn Tigers Football Depth Chart for College Football 2024-25 is lookin’ pretty good, they say, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Lots of young fellas gotta step up, that’s for sure. But hey, that’s football. Always somethin’ new, always somethin’ to watch. And that Micah Riley fella, they say he’s from Omaha. Don’t know what that means, but he’s on the team, so that’s good enough for me.
Remember, this here depth chart is just a guess, a “projection” they call it. Things can change in a heartbeat. But it’s somethin’ to talk about, somethin’ to get us excited for football season. And that’s what matters, right? Gettin’ ready for them Saturdays in the fall, when the air gets crisp and the leaves start to turn. Nothin’ better than football, I tell ya.
